Dr. Derrick Kimball is a native of “small town USA”, also known as Harveyville, Kansas, population 250. As a high school athlete, he developed an appreciation for the benefits of chiropractic care in helping patients overcome injuries. After graduating from Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, MO in 2004, he took up residence in Knoxville in 2008.
Dr. Kimball is excited to join The Joint because he too believes that chiropractic care should be accessible, affordable, and convenient for the public.
Dr. Kimball and his wife, Hope, love the outdoors, they enjoy spending long weekends hiking and exploring new areas. When he is not traveling, he can be found cooking, baking, grilling, barbecuing, spoiling their beloved pets, and rooting for the Kansas Jayhawks and the Kansas City Chiefs. He is a certified BBQ judge, and his favorite TV show is BBQ Pitmasters.
Dr. Ron Hillers is a 1994 graduate of Palmer College in Iowa and he was born and raised in Iowa. During the time that Dr. Hillers attended high school and was participating in football he sustained a serious injury and was unable to participate. His injury did not respond to medical treatment or prescriptions and after some growing frustration he was treated by a local chiropractor and almost immediately returned to playing without any restrictions. Prior to attending Palmer College of Chiropractic, Dr. Hillers attended Arkansas State University where he was a scholarship athlete and a member of the football team the ASU Indians (Now Arkansas State University Red Wolves).
While attending Palmer College Dr. Hillers also participated in a local chiropractors clinical, sports injury and extremity treatment program and that was beneficial for making up a part of his clinical hours. Initially he was licensed to practice chiropractic in Iowa and he was an associate doctor in a rural town with several very principled fellow chiropractors, it was through serving that population of patients he honed his clinical skills. He later was licensed to practice chiropractic in Washington and was in practice for 24 years in Bremerton.
He is married, has two daughters, one who recently completed her post graduate degree and is starting her career, one daughter is still attending college and is a volleyball player. Family is extending back to Idaho as well and that includes six grandchildren. He and his wife love and value family and enjoy frequent family visits, their household as most pet owners will understand is currently run by their furry “Frenchie”.
Dr. Hillers is grateful to be in Tennessee and is excited to join The Joint Chiropractic and professionally serve in the local community and provide the benefits of chiropractic care. He is passionate about the benefits of chiropractic and is on board with The Joint Chiropractic Mission, to improve quality of life through routine and affordable chiropractic care.
Dr. Zack originally joined The Joint Chiropractic team back in 2020, but after taking some time off, has now returned to practice at The Joint. He loves serving the people of Knoxville, working at both the Turkey Creek and Bearden locations. Dr. Zack has been a Chiropractor since 2018.
“I absolutely love Chiropractic and I am grateful for the opportunity to impact my patients with such a simple, yet powerful form of healthcare,” he says. “I really love connecting with people, listening closely to their concerns, and then working with them to develop a plan to best address those concerns.”
Growing up in the small town of Benton, TN he has called Knoxville his home since 2008. “I love the feel of a small town, but I love all the modern conveniences of the city—I think Knoxville is the perfect mix of those things,” says Dr. Zack. He was first led to Knoxville to pursue his education and a career as a Registered Nurse where he has worked in the Critical Care Unit and in Surgery. “I feel strongly that being both a Chiropractor and a Nurse affords me the ability to see and appreciate both sides of a complex system of healthcare—I can understand patients better by knowing where they have been and the successes or potential frustrations they have encountered along their journey.”
As a graduate of Sherman College of Chiropractic, Dr. Zack practices a variety of techniques including general diversified and Thompson Drop Techniques. He also holds Advanced Proficiency Rating in Activator Methods instrument adjusting and has a special interest in the upper cervical spine. “I like to have several different options in my toolkit to offer to patients in order to help them achieve optimal results with their chiropractic care,” he notes.
It was through personal experience that Dr. Zack discovered his calling to pursue Chiropractic as a career. Having suffered with migraine headaches and scoliosis, he saw tremendous improvement in his quality of life by visiting a Chiropractor as a teenager. “I was absolutely amazed at the difference I felt and the changes I saw in the quality of my life after being adjusted regularly—I knew I had to learn to share this wonderful form of healing with others and I have done just that,” he says. “The most rewarding part of my job is seeing someone regain the ability to do the things they love to do.”
Dr. Zack is happily married and enjoys spending time with his better half, Alex. When he is not adjusting patients, he enjoys hanging out with their pet rabbits, playing the guitar, and enjoying the beauty of the mountains. “One of my favorite places to visit is Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park—it’s such a peaceful and beautiful place that we are fortunate enough to have right here in East Tennessee,” he says.
A few fun facts about Dr. Zack: He is 6’8” tall and he has never (and still does not) play basketball. “These are the two most common questions I get asked when people first meet me,” he says with a chuckle. “I am always easy to find…just look for the tall guy.”
