3 Basic Exercises to Keep You in Great Shape

Exercise doesn’t have to be complicated. In today’s world, it often sounds much more complicated than it has to be. With classes like zumba, soul cycle, and various forms of martial arts that the common person cannot pronounce, getting in a good workout can be intimidating. Why can’t it be simple? Why can’t we all join classes that are basic and easy to follow? Actually, we can! Check out these 3 basic exercises that anyone can do and everyone can enjoy the benefits that come along with them.

Walking

There is nothing like a good, long walk. Walking is an excellent exercise that almost anyone can do. Sick? Have a family? Short on time? Short on money for a gym? That’s ok. Walking can be done in many different physical conditions, alone or in a group, at almost any location, and with absolutely zero money. It works all of the muscles in the body, improves cardiovascular health, promotes the healthy flow of blood and oxygen, and is an all around great workout. If you really want to get back to the basics, get out and have a good walk.

Jogging or Running

If you want to be challenged just a bit more than walking, try either jogging or running. The difference between the two? Jogging is a slower pace, while running requires a bit of a faster clip. Either is a great way to get in shape. Jogging and running both require every muscle in the body to be engaged and fire. It also requires your lungs to work, pushing them to pull in more air and expand their capacity. For a lot of people, jogging also just feels good. It makes them feel like they got in a really good workout, even if it was only 15 or 20 minutes long. Just like walking, it can also be done in a variety of ways...alone, in groups, and with very little to no equipment involved.

Skipping Rope

With a 5 dollar jump rope from your local general store, you can get in some of the best shape of your life. This very basic workout can be done in as little as 5 minutes and with a minimal amount of space. It requires every muscle in your body, especially the core and the legs. It demands that your lungs expand and work harder. It also makes you feel like a kid again. Jumping rope, though an excellent and tough workout, is a lot of fun! It can, especially in the beginning, seem a lot more like fun and a lot less like work.

When it comes to working out, you don’t have to go to the newest class. It doesn’t have to be a class you can’t pronounce or the trendy new fad. The old tried and true methods can do your body the same amount of good. Check out these 3 basic workouts to get your body in the best shape and yourself on a better road to health.
