Chiropractic Treatment For Young Children, Toddlers and Infants
When we think of chiropractic care, we often assume that the care provisions will be applied to adults and the elderly. The potential for musculoskeletal problems to arise increases with age as more wear and tear on the body occurs, and increased amounts of stress are placed on the musculoskeletal system.
What many fail to realize is that chiropractic care has the potential to bring positive musculoskeletal health outcomes in children, toddlers, and even infants as well.
Regarding infants, there is a lot of stress placed on the musculoskeletal system during childbirth and throughout the rapid growth in the infant’s body. While the body is growing so fast, there is the potential for malformations and misaligned skeletal components to develop throughout growth.
Chiropractic care has the ability to diagnose these misalignments or malformations and figure out a way to restore the body to proper alignment, and ensure that the infant will be in a position to grow more and avoid future problems.
While there are also concerns for the skeletal components in infants and young children, there is also the potential for neurological problems to arise. In the first five years of life, the neurological development of the brain and spinal cord is potentially the most crucial for a healthy future free of significant problems.
With the application of chiropractic care to infants, toddlers, and young children, the chiropractor has can identify potential alignment problems that could contribute to improper neurological communication throughout different parts of the body.
Communication is vital in this stage and if the proper level of neurological communication is not achieved then there are all types of conditions that can develop in the brain, in the spinal cord, and in various other parts of the nervous system.
Parents need to assess their level of trust in chiropractic care before making any decisions. Proper research is required before seeking chiropractic care but with the correct information and resources, parents can bring chiropractic care and good musculoskeletal health to the whole family.
