MLB Player Receives Chiropractic Care for Quick Recovery
Major League Baseball has seen its fair share of controversy involving improper recovery practices, and problems with illegal drugs being incorporated in the work place. Often times, the main culprit in these improper recovery practices is the use of anabolic steroids, and Human Growth Hormone and mainly tetrahydrogestrinone, which is an especially useful steroid in recovery and hand eye coordination.
These stories have rocked the baseball community, with stars like Mark McGuire and Barry Bonds using steroids to achieve record breaking statistical totals, to more current players like Alex Rodriguez receiving long suspensions for using these illegal aids.
We do not often hear about the success stories in the treatment of Major League Baseball athletes, but a recent story is making its way through the headlines regarding one of the game’s top pitchers. Stephen Strasberg, the number two pitcher in the Washington Nationals’ dominant pitching rotation, left his last start against the Miami Marlins last Tuesday after feeling significant irritation in his right throwing shoulder. When a pitcher of that caliber begins to feel irritation in his throwing shoulder the team, the managers, and the ownership administration become deeply concerned.
However, after working through some normal recover protocol, Stephen Strasberg received a chiropractic adjustment three days after the injury occurred, and he is feeling much better. He was able to play catch the next day and is anticipating a significant improvement in his throwing shoulder. While the Nationals have pushed his start back by a day to provide Strasberg with extra recovery time, both he and the team is expecting to make his next scheduled start.
This seemingly minor recovery story is doing wonders for chiropractic care and its acceptance as an effective treatment method for musculoskeletal injuries. If high profile athletes in a sport as popular as baseball not only receive a chiropractic adjustment, but is feeling much better in such a short amount of time, many people are going to hear about it. That is exactly what happened, and chiropractic care has caught the attention of many involved in baseball.
