Indoor Activities that Promote Fitness and Fun
By Brandi Swieter
Though the fall weather is often fine enough to enjoy activities outdoors, there are cold or rainy days in which outdoor exercise isn't possible or pleasant. Plenty of indoor activities exist that promote fitness while being fun. These are enjoyable for children and parents alike, making them great family activities to enjoy throughout the year when the weather is less than ideal.
Amusement Centers
Amusement centers are meant to amuse. They often contain numerous activities for people to participate in, allowing them to stay active while having a good time. Bounce USA is one possibility located in Baytown. Participants spend time bouncing around on bouncy houses and inflatables that have them working up a sweat quick.
Bowling
Bowling is a great family activity that everyone can enjoy. Leave the bumpers off and have fun seeing who can shoot the best score, or get the bumpers for the kids so they can make some balls travel all the way to end of the lane. This isn't a huge calorie burner, but bowling does get people off their feet. Max Bowl in Baytown offers more than just bowling too. Guests can spend some time at the arcade as well, or even play laser tag.
Laser Tag
Laser tag, now available at Max Bowl, offers lots of opportunity for exercise. Players have to run and hide so they don't get hit, and be sure they're the ones getting their targets on the opposite team. Those who actually try hard at the game can expect to come out of the arena sweaty and breathing heavy. It's a lot of work but a lot of fun.
Recreation Zones
Less than 25 minutes away in the city of Pasadena, iT'Z Family, Food, and Fun provides a popular hot spot for families. This place, labeled a recreation zone, offers plenty to do to stay busy. Bowling, arcade games, bumper cars, a laser maze, and other attractions are all available. Guests will have lots to choose from to keep them active and on their feet. There's even a rock climbing wall, which takes a lot of effort from the entire body, making it a worthwhile fitness option.
Getting enough exercise is important for everyone, no matter their age. Kids and adults can enjoy a day of fitness fun at some of the various indoor locations provided around town or in nearby neighborhoods. Try some out on the next cold or rainy day and have a blast getting fit.
