Haunted Houses and Corn Mazes for Your Health
By Brandi Goodman
The fall season sees two common activities being completed by people everywhere. Both a haunted house and a corn maze are autumn activities worth doing. You can try it alone, go with your family, or make a fun time of it with your friends. Either way, both options provide some benefits for your health.
Mood Enhancement
Anything you do that you consider fun and exciting is good for your health. That's because activities you enjoy are mood enhancers. They help to release endorphins and make you feel good as you're enjoying your time. Though a haunted house can be scary for some, it can be exhilarating and really boost your spirits when you make it through to the end.
Social Interaction
Going alone won't give you this benefit, but working as a team with others certainly will. You need social interaction for enhanced mood, reduced stress, and a sense of being connected. Going through a corn maze or haunted house with your friends or family can really provide some great bonding time and give you all a unique experience to talk about for years to come.
Confidence Boost
A boost in your confidence can do more for your health than you may realize. Making it through a scary situation can help you feel invincible. You'll realize if you can make it through something as terrifying as a haunted house with makeshift monsters chasing after you, then you can get through anything in life. This confidence boost will have you more likely to face your fears in the future and promotes a major psychological benefit.
Physical Activity
You may not see your typical fall activities as exercise. That's exactly what they are, though. You're spending time walking -- and possibly running -- to make your way through the maze or house. You may find your heart beating faster as you feel scared and try to get through the place as quickly as possible. This will help you burn calories and get in some of the exercise time you need in your day.
Make your way through a corn maze or haunted house and gain the benefits both bring. You'll be boosting your mood, getting in physical activity time, and even getting to socialize with others when you make it a team effort. Any advantage to your health this autumn is a major benefit.
