Dr. Donald Jones joined The Joint Chiropractic in 2022 when he became part of the team at the Waco clinic, where he does the rewarding work of helping people as their local healthcare provider.

“I enjoy offering my patients a simple way to manage their joint pain, one that educates them on the root causes of joint and muscle pain and different options for resolving that pain,” he says. “Treatment includes joint manipulation, stretching, exercises, and when necessary, coordinating their needs with other healthcare professionals. I also like seeing a patient respond to chiropractic care. They come in with pain, and after a spinal adjustment they're smiling and happy to be moving again with less pain.”

Originally from the Pasadena/Deer Park area, Dr. Jones previously worked in Houston, Austin, Conroe, and Beaumont.

His wife, Mimi, is a neonatal nurse who enjoys knitting, quilting, and playing Bingo. They have two sons and two daughters, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. They have a dachshund, Coco, and a shorkie (a shih tzu and Yorkshire terrier mix) named Sadie.

“In my spare time, I love riding my hybrid bicycle on paved riding trails for exercise and cardio conditioning,” Dr. Jones says. “I also enjoy getting out on the golf course, the focus and skill it takes to actually hit a golf ball in the direction I'm aiming, and playing with a group of friends or meeting someone new to share the round with.” Dr. Jones went to San Jacinto Junior College where he earned an associate of science degree in respiratory therapy. He got a Doctorate at Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena, where he studied sports related injuries with a particular focus on shoulders.

“After becoming a respiratory therapist I wanted to continue my education, so I looked into different medical fields,” Dr. Jones says. “When my wife sought chiropractic care for an injury related to an auto accident, I spoke with her chiropractor and it changed my direction. I didn't realize healing could occur by realigning the joints. As an avid athlete, it gave me a way to help people with natural healing and educate them about how to recover from sports injuries while possibly avoiding the need for surgery.”

For Dr. Jones, one of the most memorable aspects of working as a chiropractor is successfully treating patients with headaches by adjusting the upper cervical spine.

In Case You Didn’t Know

Dr. Jones keeps vanilla ice cream and Pepsi on hand at all times. “I love to spoil myself with a Pepsi float, even though it's not the healthiest of foods.”

If he could plan the ideal dinner party, Dr. Jones would invite his favorite actor as a child, John Wayne, western movie icon Clint Eastwood, and Eddie Murphy, “who would just be fun to have because of his comedic genius.”

One of the greatest experiences of Dr. Jones’ life was working with his father. “He made me get up early, drive to work with him, and work hard, even though I didn't always enjoy the work or getting up early,” he says. “It instilled in me the work ethic that he had, which I still carry with me today!”

Among his favorite reading materials are his early science books. “They created a sense of wonder about what is out in the universe, and while we know so much, there is still so much to learn.”

Dr. Jones’ best advice is: “Stay focused; remember, life is a marathon, not a sprint!”
