Family Wellness: Tips for Fighting Sickness

If you have a family, then you want to do everything you can to keep them healthy and strong. While this can sometimes be a challenge, there are things you can do to keep those you love away from sickness and in good shape. Check out these tips for protecting your family from illness and maintaining family health all year long.

Cover Up

At one time, a kid without a coat or socks was a pretty big deal. Nowadays, it seems that people forget about the value of bundling up. To keep your kids healthy and the sickness away, bundle up and dress in layers. That way, you’ll be prepared no matter what weather may come about. Using items like hats, scarves, and mittens only adds to the protection that you give your kids by dressing them accordingly.

Wash Often

Kids are messy. They spread germs around like wildfire. In order to help combat this common problem of having children, wash them often. You don’t have to put them into bath all the time, but washing hands and wiping down arms and legs and faces can be a good idea. This helps to wipe off germs that they may have picked up from other kids, or can help the spreading of germs of your kids to others. To make this really easy, keep wet wipes or soft kleenexes handy.

Wipe It Down

While wiping your own kid clean is a great idea, it’s also a great idea to wipe down surfaces. It’s especially helpful to wipe down surfaces that see a lot of traffic like door knobs and countertops. This can help keep germs out of your house and off of your children.


In order to keep your kids healthy, try giving them preventative measures. For starters, make sure your kids are eating a healthy, well balanced diet and exercising regularly. It can also be a great idea to give them a daily multivitamin and something like “Well Child” or "AirBorne.” Providing them with the appropriate nutrients and vitamins can keep them healthy, strong, and in illness fighting form.

Even though cold and flu season is almost behind us, it’s still important to keep your family healthy. Use these tips to keep germs and disease far away from your family, and your loved ones in healthy, fighting shape.
