Case Studies in Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care is a discipline of alternative medicine that holds diversity in treatment interventions to a high standard. Chiropractors are able to address a given problem from multiple different perspectives, and determine the correct pathway to bring about the best possible outcomes in their patients.

One of the most common treatment interventions that we see in chiropractic care due to its high levels of accuracy is the use of instruments to perform a chiropractic adjustment, rather than manually performing an adjustment with the hands.

A series of case studies can be observed to see just how efficacious instrument-based adjustments are:

  • A 49-year old male with chest pain and anxiety initially had cardiovascular conditions ruled out as root causes. Once cardiovascular causes were ruled out, the patient tried 14 weeks of instrument chiropractic adjustment in the thoracic spine. At the end of the 14 week period, the chest pain symptoms disappeared.
  • In a 26-year old male with a herniated disc, orthopedic professionals recommended spinal surgery. Rather than undergoing this invasive procedure, the patient chose chiropractic care for a 90-day period to see if the lower back pain and leg pain symptoms would be reduced. At a follow up appointment one year after the beginning of the 90-day period, the symptoms completely disappeared.
  • In a 35 year old female who underwent two different unsuccessful neck surgeries, chiropractic care was recommended in lieu of a third surgery which would result in spinal fusion. Chiropractic care in the form of handheld mechanical instrument adjustment was administered to the patient for 30 days and at the end of this period, the symptoms had completely receded.
  • In a 53-year old female with a condition known as adhesive capsulitis, or “frozen shoulder,” six months of pharmaceuticals and physical therapy were unsuccessful in treating the condition. Handheld mechanical instrument adjustments were administered to the patient for a period, complete mobility was restored to the previously immobile shoulder joint.

These are just four out of so many case studies that we can observe to determine the effectiveness of chiropractic care in a variety of conditions, but it offers a beneficial outlook for this discipline for years to come.
