Tall Tales of Chiropractic Care
Are you new to the world of chiropractic care? Well, if you are there may be more than a few untruths that you have heard circulated about it. Here are a few of the more prevalent falsehoods about chiropractic and the real deal on what chiropractic can do for you!
Chiropractors Only Treat Back Pain
Anyone who has ever been treated by a chiropractor can tell you that this one is false! Chiropractors look at your whole body and address health issues you may be having, by looking at your nervous system and adjusting any misaligned bones in the spine by using precise applied force. This works because every muscle, ligament, tendon, bone position and function of your body gives your brain information about what is going on not only in your own body, but also in the world around you. If something in the chain that gets to your brain is off, it can decrease the amount of information your brain receives and this, in turn, can manifest itself as health issues. When your whole body works together at its best it can have a huge impact on every area of your health in positive ways!
All Chiropractors are the Same
Again, this is just not true. All chiropractors do get the same basic training about the way the body works and how the spine and nervous system impact the function of your body. However, after the initial education chiropractors learn different techniques for adjusting, analyzing and treating patients. For example, different chiropractors use different amounts of force, different instruments, different therapies and all have different personalities. You have to find a chiropractor that fits you, because they definitely are not all the same!
Once You Pop, You Can’t Stop
Chiropractic care is not like a bag of potato chips. A lot of people are under the impression that once you begin chiropractic care you can’t ever stop. When you first seek care, a chiropractor has to help you work through years of abuse and misalignment in your body. It can take a while for your body to get retrained and reset. Once you get back to a good place with your health you can either only come to the chiropractor when you are having pain or feeling unhealthy, or you can see your chiropractor every once in a while for a checkup. Either way, the choice is yours.
So, how about taking the first step towards a healthier you by visiting a chiropractor today!
