Add a Little Diversity to Meals for Better Health
By Tom Herrin
Most people have a tendency to get into some pretty set routines. It is that way in just about everything they do. For many, it is even difficult to make real changes in their diet. It is often a shock when they have some kind of health issue that requires adding or taking away some kind of food. Creating a diet with more diversity at an early age can help people be more open to these kinds of changes. Including leafy greens to a diet can be a good start. They can provide plenty of nutrients and do a few other things as well.
Leafy Greens and Digestion May Go Well Together
A lot of people have some kind of digestive issues. There are probably more than can be counted, so it is not a one-size-fits-all problem. No matter what the causes, adding leafy greens to a diet can provide some nutrients that may help the digestive system work more efficiently. Not only can they prevent some common problems, but they can also restore some energy that may be lost as a result of some of those issues.
Keep Cholesterol in Check With Leafy Greens
More than a few people have trouble maintaining their cholesterol to levels where they should be. Some of this is because the foods that so many eat are just not the quality that can support good health. Relying on fast foods for many meals can be bad. The meats are not usually lean, and the oils used to prepare the food is often low quality. It may taste good, but much of it can raise bad cholesterol levels. Eating leafy greens can help to remove some of the material that can block blood vessels. Having them regularly may be a good idea for those who have busy schedules and have to eat on the go.
Want a Fast, Easy, and Healthy Meal?
We enjoy eating leafy greens, especially in salads. They are easy to prepare, and they never seem heavy. I can eat a meal with them and go out and be active immediately afterward. They also seem to help me feel fuller and may stop hunger cravings. I will increase my consumption of them anytime I am trying to get more serious about watching my weight. They work well for my family, maybe they will for yours. Check them out next time you are in the produce section or the farmers market.
