Ease Growing Pains With Chiropractic Treatment
Growing up is a painful business. Despite all the emotional turmoil that goes along with puberty and hormones and feelings, there are the physical pains that comes with growing as well. These growing pains are no joke either. They can be debilitating, literally causing child to cry, shake and grab their extremities in pain.
Watching your child go through this can be heartbreaking, especially since there is seemingly nothing you can do to help. This is all part of growing up, right? Although that may be true, living with the extreme pain of growing limbs doesn’t have to be a struggle that growing adolescents have to deal with quite so severely. Chiropractic may be a treatment that can help ease the discomfort of growing up, well, at least the physical part.
If you don’t remember experiencing growing pains yourself, it may be hard to relate to what your child is going through. Although it is speculated that the pain is caused by the physical growth of the body, some doctors think that the pain is actually related more to the intense activity during the day, such as sports, excessive play and just plain running around with your friends.
Chiropractors believe that the pain being felt is linked to subluxations in the spine. Subluxations are dysfunctions of the vertebrae that cause problems throughout the body. The subluxations are corrected by various chiropractic manipulations that relieve the pressure that builds up in the joints. Once the blockages are cleared from the spine, then the nerve interference will be dispelled, allowing the spine and nervous system to flow throughout the body at its optimal state.
It is important to talk to your child about their pain levels and the location of their pain. Growing pains are commonly associated with the arms and legs, however most children experience pain in their back as well. This can be dismissed as a separate issue, when in fact the back aches may also be tied to the growing pains. Chiropractors explain this by emphasizing how the body can not be compartmentalized, but must be looked at as a whole with interconnected systems. If one part of the body is experiencing pain, stress or injury, then the body will compensate for that pain with another part of the body.
Some parents are tentative to have their children get treated with chiropractic care, thinking that it is a form of treatment meant only for adults. The truth is that chiropractic care is generally low risk, and is safe for all demographics, from infants to the elderly. There are no medications involved, surgical procedures or any other invasive therapies. Chiropractic is an all natural treatment plan that may be the answer to your child’s growing pain problems.
