Dr. Grant Shelton joined The Joint Chiropractic’s family of local healthcare providers in 2019 with his arrival at the local Grand Prairie clinic location. A graduate of University of Texas at Arlington, he earned bachelor’s of science degrees in exercise science, anatomy, and health and wellness. He got his doctorate of chiropractic from Parker University.
“The thing I love most about being in this field is that chiropractic is a non-invasive method of restoring motion to joints throughout the body to enable people to keep doing what they love, return to things they used to do, and to retake control of their health outcomes,” he says. “It keeps people moving well and feeling their best without the use of medications.”
Dr. Grant, as he likes to be called, is very local. He grew up in Arlington and attended Arlington High, and has worked previously in Fort Worth, Arlington and Mansfield.
In his spare time, he enjoys drawing, cooking, and landscaping at home.
He and wife Miranda have two cats, Artemis and Athena. “My wife and I met while attending our young adults class at church,” Dr. Grant says. “She is an interventional radiologic technologist at Arlington Memorial. One of our earliest conversations was the beauty in reading X-rays and being able to see how the way people lived their lives affected the appearance of their bones.”
First-hand experience led him down the chiropractic path.
“I have always known I wanted to do something within the medical field to be able to help people,” Dr. Grant says. “I knew chiropractic was for me when I injured my shoulder in high school wrestling and lost about 70 percent of my range of motion. Out of desperation, and having never been to a chiropractor, I went to one close by and within three visits I was feeling better than before I got injured.”
He could not be happier doing what he’s doing and where he’s doing it: “I’m excited to bring The Joint Chiropractic to the great people of Grand Prairie can experience the amazing potential of chiropractic.”
In Case You Didn’t Know
Dr. Grant says the one thing he always has in his refrigerator is his favorite fruit: “I always have to have honeycrisp apples in my fridge.”
If he could bring together any four people from history, there would be some interesting discussion. “For my perfect dinner party it would have to be Hippocrates for his philosophy and his quote, ‘Look well to the spine for the cause of the disease,’” Dr. Grant says. “He was so far ahead of his time in his thinking, I want to pick his brain and learn from him.
"Ralph Waldo Emerson would have to be there as he is the writer of my favorite poem and has shaped how I view success in his writing, “What Is Success?” I would also include DD Palmer, the founder of chiropractic, and Tony Robbins so I could speak with him about business management and self-improvement.”
The coolest thing Dr. Grant has done, he says, “is meeting and marrying my wife. She is my best friend, my inspiration for everything I do, my rock and my confidence.”
