Meet The Doctors

Dr. Grant Shelton, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Grand Prairie

Dr. Grant Shelton joined The Joint Chiropractic’s family of local healthcare providers in 2019 with his arrival at the local Grand Prairie clinic location. A graduate of University of Texas at Arlington, he earned bachelor’s of science degrees in exercise science, anatomy, and health and wellness. He got his doctorate of chiropractic from Parker University.

“The thing I love most about being in this field is that chiropractic is a non-invasive method of restoring motion to joints throughout the body to enable people to keep doing what they love, return to things they used to do, and to retake control of their health outcomes,” he says. “It keeps people moving well and feeling their best without the use of medications.”

Dr. Grant, as he likes to be called, is very local. He grew up in Arlington and attended Arlington High, and has worked previously in Fort Worth, Arlington and Mansfield.

In his spare time, he enjoys drawing, cooking, and landscaping at home.

He and wife Miranda have two cats, Artemis and Athena. “My wife and I met while attending our young adults class at church,” Dr. Grant says. “She is an interventional radiologic technologist at Arlington Memorial. One of our earliest conversations was the beauty in reading X-rays and being able to see how the way people lived their lives affected the appearance of their bones.”

First-hand experience led him down the chiropractic path.

“I have always known I wanted to do something within the medical field to be able to help people,” Dr. Grant says. “I knew chiropractic was for me when I injured my shoulder in high school wrestling and lost about 70 percent of my range of motion. Out of desperation, and having never been to a chiropractor, I went to one close by and within three visits I was feeling better than before I got injured.”

He could not be happier doing what he’s doing and where he’s doing it: “I’m excited to bring The Joint Chiropractic to the great people of Grand Prairie can experience the amazing potential of chiropractic.”

In Case You Didn’t Know

Dr. Grant says the one thing he always has in his refrigerator is his favorite fruit: “I always have to have honeycrisp apples in my fridge.”

If he could bring together any four people from history, there would be some interesting discussion. “For my perfect dinner party it would have to be Hippocrates for his philosophy and his quote, ‘Look well to the spine for the cause of the disease,’” Dr. Grant says. “He was so far ahead of his time in his thinking, I want to pick his brain and learn from him.

"Ralph Waldo Emerson would have to be there as he is the writer of my favorite poem and has shaped how I view success in his writing, “What Is Success?” I would also include DD Palmer, the founder of chiropractic, and Tony Robbins so I could speak with him about business management and self-improvement.”

The coolest thing Dr. Grant has done, he says, “is meeting and marrying my wife. She is my best friend, my inspiration for everything I do, my rock and my confidence.”

Dr. Jonathan To, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Grand Prairie

The Grand Prairie clinic location is proud that Dr. Jonathan To joined its team in 2021 to provide important healthcare services to the local community. He has been part of The Joint Chiropractic family since 2017 when he first began serving residents in the Metroplex area.

“The best thing about being a chiropractor is being able to tangibly improve lives and often see immediate relief and happiness brought to patients,” he says.

A product of Plano, Dr. To enjoys video games and rock climbing for their combined physical and mental stimulus.

He earned his doctorate from Parker University in Dallas. “I knew chiropractic was my calling relatively late,” he says, “but I was validated in my choice during student clinic as soon as I was able to treat real patients and bring relief to them.”

His experience also includes treating himself. He was injured in a rock climbing accident and suffered an elbow fracture and dislocation. “I was able to stabilize myself before being driven to the hospital,” Dr. To says. “I acknowledge that other health professionals have further expertise but I feel empowered knowing I can be of help in a variety of situations.”

In Case You Didn’t Know

Dr. To says he keeps his refrigerator stocked with seltzer water as a zero calorie substitute for his soda cravings.

If he could bring together any four people from history for his ideal dinner party, Dr. To would love to sit down with musician Miles Davis, YouTube gaming streamer Ninja, anime director Hayao Miyazaki, and basketball star Kobe Bryant. ”All four are, or were, at the top of their respective endeavors while at the same time are unlikely to know anything of each other’s fields,” he says. “I would love just being able to listen to them exchange ideas and the questions they would ask each other.”

Dr. To admits that he is “a total nerd” and says a book that has meant a lot to him is Volume 10 of Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon by Fujino Omori: “This novel means a lot to me because of the lessons of responsibility and consequence in the face of adversity, and the value of holding on to ideals despite the difficulty in doing so.”
