Support Your Green Juice Habit By Avoiding Street Dealers

Have you always been a trend spotter? You know, the person who discovers metallic lipstick and then finds the coolest shade of aluminum on the shelf? Were you positively giddy when you heard about Japanese fish pedicures? In fact, you went out within one hour of reading about this latest beauty treatment and found yourself submerging your feet in a tank where a school of callus craving fish happily nibbled at your toes?

Well if this is you, then you probably heard that everyone is jumping on a new health craze called green juicing. Jennifer Lopez, Drew Barrymore and Ryan Seacrest are all gulping down green juice drinks! So naturally you'll want to hit the streets, searching out the local street dealers who peddle the famed green juice. These suppliers of the stuff are everywhere! They can be located at your favorite juice bar or grocery store. Even your favorite barista deals in this drink. The only problem is that at at $7.00 a bottle, you will be losing more green than you will be scoring.

Green juice typically combines parsley, spinach, pears and celery. The properties of the juice are said to help with energy, weight loss, and even boosting your immune system. The emerald colored concoction is magic for cleaning toxins from your system. It also tastes great. In fact, many people might logically assume that if they hate veggies, they will hate green juice. Not so.Green juice, when properly prepared delivers delightful intermingling flavors: salty and sweet. Spicy and sour. Pungent and mild. Tart and warm. Each ingredient produces a unique flavor property, and with a little creativity, you can easily craft your perfect variation of "Green Juice".

When combining your produce, try and keep these ratios in mind to formulate the perfect green juice:

  • 3 parts grassy greens juice
  • 4 parts sweet juice
  • 2 parts zesty/sour/tart juice
  • 1 part spicy juice

 Example:

  • 3 parts romaine/spinach/cucumber juice
  • 4 parts apple or pear juice
  • 2 parts kiwi or lemon juice
  • 1 part ginger

However, if you go out and try and buy the green magic, it will come with a hefty price tag. So if you’re creative enough to create your own pair of retro jeans with just a pair of scissors, you can manufacture you can be your own green juice dealer.

All you need is a juicer, and a trip to your local grocery store. Once there, simply purchase a bunch of spinach, cilantro, kale, and celery. If you’re a little more adventurous, you could also add a little lemon and green apple for zest and pizzazz. Cut up the produce, run them through the juicer, and before you know it you will be drinking your own green juice mix that any Hollywood star would be proud to drink. Plus, you will have created it at a fraction of the cost at any retail outlet. Remember to always wash your ingredients well, peel the rinds of lemons and oranges, and then combine them all and drink immediately!
