Health Warning Signs You Shouldn't Ignore

Sometimes the body gives warning signs that your health is not in tip top shape. It is always important to look for these signs and to make sure your overall health is good because the last thing you want is for these warning signs to turn into full blown health issues.

Poor Sleep Quality

If you have a hard time drifting off to sleep at night, it could be a sign that your stress levels are too high. Those who have issues with falling asleep could have higher levels of cortisol, which can result from your body putting out too many fight-or-flight stress responses. If you have issues falling asleep and getting quality sleep, it is time to do something about it. Lack of quality sleep in the long run can lead to a lowered immune system and a wide variety of health issues.

You Are Shrinking

You may not pay too much attention to being a half an inch shorter at a checkup, but don’t just think it is a problem with the doctor’s measurement. It is possible that you are actually shrinking because your bones are starting to degenerate due to osteoporosis. Just because aging is natural does not mean that bone loss has to be natural too. Instead, if you make an effort to increase your intake of calcium and vitamin D, while also doing weight bearing exercises, you can have healthy bones for the rest of your life.

Your Skin Acts Up

Another common sign that you have too much stress in your life or that your diet is unhealthy is the look of your skin. Developing acne, eczema, or other skin conditions frequently, could be your body’s way of trying to communicate to you that something isn't quite right. If your skin flare-ups are not due to allergies from products, then it is best to take a deeper look into your stress levels or diet.

An Itch That Won’t Go Away

Itchy skin can be caused by dry skin, allergies, or common skin issues, such as eczema. However, an itchiness that is more intense than normal could be a sign of issues with your liver. It is best to have your doctor do some simple blood tests to rule out liver problems.

It is best not to ignore the warning signs our bodies give us. Instead, embrace your best health with regular chiropractic care, healthy eating, and exercising to prevent problems and to feel better overall.
