Dr. Francis Jopanda became part of The Joint Chiropractic family of local healthcare providers in 2025 when he began working at the Bunker Hill clinic before joining the team at the Heights location. He previously worked in Spring, Texas.

“I’ve always worked in the healthcare field, and I am now called to keep helping as many people as I can through chiropractic care,” he says. “I work with patients from all walks of life, so it’s a never-ending phase of learning while treating various body types. I am always learning and I always strive to improve.”

Dr. J, as his patients sometimes call him, grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. “It helped shape the chiropractor I am today,” he says. “Fifteen years of experience as a massage therapist helped me with my assessment skills in addressing areas of muscle and joint tightness.”

His partner, Amy, works in commercial tax accounting and the couple has a rescue dog named Dart. “He was named for ‘Dartanian’ from the series ‘Stranger Things’ because he’s my little monster,” Dr. J says. “My other dog is a Pomeranian named Remy.”

He loves taking his dogs to the park, as well as biking and finding new food spots.

Dr. J graduated from California State University, East Bay with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. He earned a Doctorate at Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward, Calif.

“I have always been interested in chiropractic, but it became a calling when I wanted to further my knowledge in helping people beyond therapeutic massage,” he says.

In Case You Didn’t Know

Dr. J always has Whataburger Spicy Ketchup on hand because he likes it with French fries.

If he could plan a dinner party with four famous guests, Dr. J would include NBA star Steph Curry, Buddhist leader The Dalai Lama, comedian Dave Chappelle, and actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

The coolest experience of his life was a trip to the Philippines in 2011 where he served youth in rural areas through a non-profit organization. “We brought books for new libraries, hygiene supplies, and clothing,” he says. “We also taught children dances ranging from modern to Tahitian styles.The trip forced me to step out of my comfort zone, and I was humbled by the fact that these youth appreciated anything we gave or taught them.”

Dr. J’s favorite book is The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. “It taught me simple lessons to live by to better myself and others around me,” he says. “One of the agreements is ‘Don't take anything personally.’ What others say and do is a projection of their own reality and their own dream; nothing others do is because of you.”

If he wrote an autobiography, Dr. J would entitle it How Dr. Jopanda Changed Lives Through Chiropractic. “I feel a great responsibility to use chiropractic as a tool to change lives for the better,” he says.

The best life hack he ever received was from a high school teacher who shared the movie “Dead Poets Society” with students. “The quote ‘Carpe Diem’ was an eye-opener, teaching us to take advantage of the life that is given to us,” he says.

Dr. Daphine Stroops became part of The Joint Chiropractic’s team of local healthcare providers in 2019 and has been serving residents in the Houston area since 2020.

“The best thing about being in the chiropractic field is being able to make a positive impact on the patient’s life by taking away their pain,” she says. “I feel this way because I love being of service to others.

“The other thing that is gratifying is meeting new patients because that gives me a chance to educate them and change their lives by introducing them to the power of chiropractic care.”

A mother of two sons, two daughters, and a German shepherd/Labrador mix named Alfie, she enjoys traveling in her spare time: “I love visiting new places and trying local cuisines.”

Dr. Daphine, as her patients call her, grew up in Wilton, Ark. “I learned how to be a social butterfly there,” she says. “This helps me to never meet a stranger, which makes my patients comfortable in my clinic.”

She earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Grambling State before getting her doctorate of chiropractic from Texas Chiropractic College in 2015.

“I knew chiropractic was my calling when I prayed to God to lead me to the table or people that I should meet before going to a career fair at Grambling State just before graduation,” Dr. Daphine says. “I ended up meeting a college recruiter from Texas Chiropractic College! I never heard of chiropractic before this moment. I knew it was meant to be because everything just fell into place for me to get into this program.”

If she needed any additional confirmation, it came early in her career. “I had just started my journey at The Joint and this patient walks in bent forward, limping, in moderate to severe pain,” she recalls. “I have to admit to being nervous on the inside, but I told myself, ‘You got this!’ So I examined him and proceeded to treat him. I had him stand up and he was still hurting.
