Dr. Mitra Fazel joined The Joint Chiropractic’s family of doctors in 2014 and currently serves as the clinic director at Houston’s Meyerland location. A 1989 graduate of Baylor, she earned bachelor degrees in psychology and biology before getting a doctorate at Texas Chiropractic College.
Dr. Fazel is a people person, so it’s not surprising that the thing she likes most about the chiropractic field is helping people, and running a close second is the opportunity she has to work with people. Life in a cubicle is not for her.
In her spare time, Dr. Fazel enjoys reading and spending time with her husband and son. There are plans to bring into the family a puppy, which will be named Dory, after the absent-minded fish. Yes, the name was chosen by her young son.
Like many doctors in the field, Dr. Fazel had first-hand experience with the wonders of what chiropractic could offer. “I had really bad allergies, and I had to have corticosteroid shots all the time,” she says. “I went on albuterol, etc., but it all went away with chiropractic. It was so cool.”
Dr. Fazel says she likes the organic nature of marketing that occurs through good service.
“I enjoy the one-on-one patient referrals, they are the cornerstone of marketing when happy satisfied patients bring in their friends and family, or they put out Yelp reviews for everyone to see,” Dr. Fazel says. “I feel that this type of marketing is best and the most successful. When a patient refers another patient, it is the highest form of compliment.”
In Case You Didn’t Know
If there’s one thing Dr. Fazel needs to keep in her kitchen, it’s blueberries: “I love blueberries, and my son … well, we call him the blueberry monster.”
Dr. Fazel’s ideal dinner companions would be responsible for some pretty intellectual conversation -- and then there’s Adam Sandler.
“I would love to have dinner with Henry Kissinger because I love politics and I want to know how things really work,” Dr. Fazel says. “I would also include Ayn Rand and Jean Paul Sartre because I want to know why they think the way they do, and they’re experienced. I would also have Adam Sandler because he needs to break the ice in the conversation and make me laugh.”
Speaking of ice, the coolest thing Dr. Fazel has done is raising a child. “Being a mom is so difficult,” she explains, “but when he says ‘I love you and want to live with you forever and marry you,’ it shows me what truly matters in life.”
