Dr. Patrick Clifford joined The Joint Chiropractic in 2024 when he became part of the team at the Midtown clinic, where he does the rewarding work of helping people as their local healthcare provider.

“The best thing about chiropractic is its ability to take someone who is in debilitating pain and restore them back to feeling and moving at a level that matches their potential,” he says. “In essence, I am taking their pain and dysfunction away and replacing it with resilience, education, and a new outlook on how to keep dysfunction at bay.”

Dr. Clifford enjoys working in a field where no two days are the same. “Every day presents new opportunities and chances for growth, not just for patients, but for myself as well,” he says. “I truly value the chance to better myself and my patients’ lives.”

A native of Grand Prairie, when he was asked as a child what he wanted to be when he grew up, his answer was “either a professional baseball player or a doctor,” he says. “I had the opportunity to play professional baseball until COVID-19 struck the world. It was then that I decided to step away from baseball and begin my chiropractic journey.”

Dr. Clifford has an American shorthair cat named Ellie. “I saved her from my apartment complex when I was living in Pasadena attending college,” he says. “She followed me up three flights of stairs and I adopted her on the spot. Her favorite thing is to go on the patio at night and chase the laser pointer. She has a tremendous personality and she makes it a point to treat everyone she meets with an open heart and happiness.”

In his spare time he loves to play golf. “I am also a disc golfer and I enjoy going for runs and hitting the gym,” he says. “When not working, I am a baseball coach. I love working with baseball players to unlock their potential and to give back to the game in the same way the coaches helped me along my journey.”

Dr. Clifford earned a Bachelor of Science at the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Ark. He majored in health science with a double minor in physical education and business administration. He earned a Doctorate at Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena.

“I was playing semi-professional baseball when the pandemic occurred and at the same time I was working with a baseball chiropractor,” he says. “It was a terrible time for the world and choosing to pursue chiropractic allowed me to devote the same passion I had for baseball toward chiropractic.”

Dr. Clifford had a memorable moment during his first month as an intern. “I saw a patient who could barely stand up come into the clinic and after 30 minutes he walked out on his own with a full smile on his face,” he says.

Dr. Clifford’s favorite book is Papi: My Story, a memoir by David Ortiz. “He was my favorite baseball player growing up,” he says. “The book describes his journey through challenges and obstacles to play professional baseball. It’s a story about perseverance against the odds and believing in yourself and your potential.”

The best advice he ever received was from graduate school professor Dr. Larry Wyatt, DC: “If you find something that you love to do, you will never work a day in your life.”

I went in to this location and told the person at the desk that I wanted to pay for a package of just a few sessions. She put me on a recurring plan and they have been charging my card every month for a service that I'm not even receiving, which most people would call theft. I filled out the cancellation form along with a note telling the manager, Marina, that I expected a full refund and she told me that she would not refund any of the charges. She emailed me a copy of the contract and it isn't even my signature on the contract. These people are criminals, so beware!

I know it’s borderline impossible to “fix” everything in one visit but he definitely got right to the root of the issue that other chiropractors hadn’t gotten to recently. I absolutely LOVE Dr. Clifford and John who's at the front desk. They're consistently pleasant!!! The initial visit $29 and then $80 monthly for weekly visits. You honestly can't beat it. At this location the staff went above and beyond to bring quality service to their patients. I showed up just before their lunch break and additionally two more patients walked in and instead of asking them to come back later they took care of them without attitude. The Dr did an excellent job with his pressure and technique. I have seen multiple chiropractors around the country so I would know the difference.

I was hoping to be a new patient, but the front desk attendant, who wasn’t even present at the front desk for the first few minutes informed me that they had a 45min-1 hour wait. I informed her I had a reservation scheduled for 10:30am that I made the day before. She told me that regardless of the “reservation” I would still have to wait as they “have to service members first.” None of this information was present on the email I received. If there is still a wait, what is the point of a reservation? First timers BEWARE, this is a bad and manipulative business practice. Any other true medical facility would honor their appointments and wouldn’t give special treatments to member. A very bad practice model, but seems to be working as the members had no issue with their recurring charges. I will never be returning to or recommend the joint.

VERY DECEPTIVE AND HORRIBLE Customer service. Be careful when signing up, it ends up being a recurring charge. Not everyone is clear and upfront. Even if you look at their website or FB ads, it does not show that there' an ongoing fee. They also don't send out reminders or billing. They just charge away at their convenience. They refuse to credit any charges. I am laid off and still stuck paying for a service I was not able to use, mainly due to out of country travel. Horrible experience. Crystal basically made sure to tell me that they are a huge corporation and that they won't credit and they won't do anything about it, and that i can't do anything about it. I am sick to my stomach.

What an amazing experience I had going for a chiropractic adjustment. I've been going to The Joint Chiropractor for some time now, and this was the first time I met Dr. Price. Now I have seen many excellent chiropractors over the years, but Dr. Price was the most thorough examination ever. I was in Last Tuesday 10/22/2024. Dr. Lewis was great! The young lady at the front desk was extremely rude. She hid behind the desk and all the monitors and obscuring her from the clients, she mumbled under her breath, and I don't think she even once looked right at me, checking in or out. She was not at all welcoming or friendly. She needs some professional coaching and/or be moved to a new role, she will only hurt your business.

I saw Dr. Lewis today and he was magnificent. I just moved to Houston and have been jumping around from Joint locations trying to find one I really like. I absolutely love this location. I often feel like appointments are impersonal and very quick, not thorough, which I will admit at some points it is nice to just hop in and out of a chiropractor and go on with your day, but Dr. Lewis was extremely thorough, he asked me questions about my day to day to make sure he understood the full picture of my back pain, and after i told him what i did for a living, he showed me some stretches I could do to improve my day to day. Dr.Lewis has a much gentler approach than other chiropractors I’ve been to in the past. (Previous adjustments had been so painful, I almost stopped going.) Right away you can tell he’s a seasoned pro who knows what he’s doing. He helped me feel at ease and adjusted my very sore neck and back with virtually no pain. Honestly, it was a night and day experience from the last 3 chiropractors I’ve seen. He is 100% my new “go to” doctor for adjustments.

My visits have been amazing each time. Dr. Lewis is amazing; I go there specifically for him. However, I have been well taken care of by the other docs when I miss him. As a dentist I can get pretty jammed up, but after my weekly adjustments now I feel relief. I can say I’m not a fan of the 4 adjustments/month plan b/c sometimes I can’t make it to the office, I think unused adjustments should roll over and not be lost. I signed up and was told it requires 2 month commitment, but never was told it continues to rollover unless cancelled and a form signed as mentioned in another review. I’ll have to look into that.

Ease of walking in without an appointment suits my schedule best. The doctors I’ve encountered are very thorough and really try to find the best treatment for each individual. my first and second visits were different strategies and the second worked best for me. Be thorough when you explain your areas that need attention. 4 stars because I feel like there’s really no attempt to relax you before adjustments and I’m very stiff.

Edit: updating my review to 1 star. The reply from the business is misleading as if I didn’t attempt to cancel my plan before ever writing a review. They had the gall to call me up today and ask for my updated credit card information after I had to cancel it due to The Joint charging me for a service I am not going to use and I have no interest in using. Im still disputing the charges. The monthly plan is DECEPTIVE. I never would have signed up if I realized it was reoccurring. It was explained to me as if it was a one month package, NOT a subscription. When I realized the error and requested a refund on services I was not interested in, the front desk staff was rude and unhelpful. They DO NOT issue refunds on any charges. I would recommend a traditional Chiro if possible. This place also does not do imaging or have any machines; just old school adjustments. Not worth the price or the hassle of cancelling. And after all of this, the chiro was WRONG about my back issues. One visit to a real doctor with an X-ray machine solved my issues. No need for a money eating scam like TJC. Who knows how long I would’ve been paying for snake oil if I actually kept a monthly subscription.

Not my usual location but we were running errands in the area and stopped in there which saved us a trip out to Sugarland. Service was fast and doctor pretty good for not knowing me. Always tough the first time with a new doctor as they don't know how hard to push or where to be careful, so not bad all in all.

I walked in today and was very disappointed. I was treated by an older woman that could not pop any bone in my body all she would say is you’re stiff . I walked out with my neck still hurting and she also used an accessory that felt like it was pinching my skin . I need to learn how to walk away when I feel like someone won’t be able to crack my back without using utensils . Definitely need my refund or be seen by someone else .

I've had a few injuries here and there from either lifting or rec sports. The joint has helped me feel better quicker. Especially faster, easier, and cheaper then going to a normal chiropractic offic. I also use them for general chiropractic maintenance to help prevent any future injuries. I’ve been a customer of The Joint for over 7 years now. Today, I had the worst experience after almost 200+ visits. This was at the Shepherd location (2612 S Shepherd Dr Suite A, Houston, TX 77098) in Houston with Dr. Mosley. Not only was she extremely unprofessional and arrogant, she also had the audacity to throw temper tantrums and attitude when I simply (in a polite manner) told her that she is pulling my ear while adjusting my neck. Instead of accepting her mistake and apologizing, she instead asked me to leave. Ridiculous. I don’t pay top dollars for this pathetic service. I’ve been a loyal customer and have greatly benefited from The Joint’s service but practitioners like Dr. Mosley leave a bad taste in customers’ mouth and hope that this is just one bad experience. This is extremely unprofessional and disappointing and I would never be visiting this location ever again.

John at the front desk was so rude to me! A friend of mine recommended me to this location and a lady came to my office with a "1 free visit" voucher for this location. I was sssoooo excited! I called to book because I was having trouble online and John seemed so intense and unwilling to help with the problem. He just kept saying I don't know with long drawn out breaths. He seems like the kind of employee that absolutely hates his job and takes it out on everyone else! John probably needs an adjustment himself, very uptight guy....

I’m only on my second visit and already feeling relief after years of just bearing the pain of my sciatica. I saw Dr. Angel for my initial visit and she was super thorough and thoughtful…I left feeling considerably better than when I arrived. Edit/update…I have now been going for a couple months and have seen four different doctors…they all do something different and I like that. Today I saw Dr. Price for the first time…AMAZING work. She asked all the right questions, listened to my answers, explained everything she did, gave helpful advice for stretching and maintenance and most importantly, sent me away pain-free.

I absolutely love Dr Teagle! I have been going to him probably 2 years now maybe even longer. He is one of the only chiropractors I truly feel comfortable with, I suffer from scoliosis and TMJ every time I visit I walk out feeling like a million bucks! Along with this, I have a severely disabled child with many medical complications Dr Teagle does fantastic with him! I have said many many times I’ll never let another chiropractor work with my son besides Dr Teagle and I mean every word! There is no one I’d trust more with him besides this Dr! 10/10 recommend!

Honestly the experience was probably the worst I have ever had in any Houston location. I would not recommend this location specifically to any friend, neighbor or even stranger. The customer service I experienced was not friendly nor helpful. Who I believe was the manager (tall guy with glasses) was extremely rude, constantly talking over me, neglected to answer my concerns regarding my visit. If I could give zero stars I would!!

An amazing place, first came here due to immense back pain from years of slouching and bad exercises for the back. After the first visit, I was able to stand up straight again! Process at first took a few minutes, mostly medical reasons, but afterwards, takes about 5-10 minutes and your back pain is gone! 30 minute wait with 2 people ahead of me??? Seems exaggerated or the doc is just slow. It was also 30 minutes from the afternoon closing time so maybe that had something to do with it. Either way bad experience for a first time visitor to this location. I thought the purpose of this membership was for visits to be quick and easy but it's been everything but.

Started off good-ish the 1st week or so But there’s a few misunderstanding from their side, as i understood that when I sign up for at least 2 months with the 80$ package and i cancel after that i’d pay 10$ Per session not that i have to keep paying the 80$ monthly fee. That’s one Then drs started slacking off with each session. The sessions were about just little pops done within 20 seconds and thats it! I’ve only been with 1 good male dr that i can’t seem to find anymore. The rest male and especially female drs barely did anything. That’s 2 And when i wanted to cancel at 1st they told whenever i wana cancel i’d have to do that on the 29th and my last session would be on the 29th, now i called and they’re like oh ur last day of cancellation is today and ur last session would be tomorrow. That’s 3 M disappointed!

The Joint on South Shepherd: Amazing Staff, Great Doctor I had been having some back pain for a while, and I was referred to The Joint on South Shepherd by a friend. I was skeptical at first, but I'm so glad I went. The staff was amazing and helpful. They were so friendly and welcoming, and they really took the time to understand my pain. They asked me a lot of questions about my symptoms and my lifestyle, and they really listened to my answers. Doctor Payne was great! He was very knowledgeable and he explained everything to me in a way that I could understand. He also gave me some great exercises to do at home. I felt like he really understood my pain and he was able to help me find a solution that worked for me. After just a few visits, I started to feel so much better. My back pain was gone, and I had more energy. I'm so glad I found The Joint! Had a terrible experience with Dr Walker the second time today. Came in with a lower back pain asking to do lower body adjustments to get some relief. Instead had to listen to a lengthy lecture on how everything I do to my body is wrong and how my decision to not let anyone adjust my neck would leave me in pain forever. That was absolutely unprofessional and totally uncalled for. I came for a pain relief, not a humiliating criticism. He eventually agreed to adjust my lower back: did 2 quick adjustments which did absolutely nothing to my pain and ordered me to come back every day for the next week and then keep coming back weekly. Such a scam. I am never coming back.

Malpractice, mismanagement, they are quick and happy to take your money when you sign up, there was no written contract or document, just a little bar code card. But when I finished my session and went to cancel my account, they simply say OK and provided no receipt or any document. I was naive to trust them, only to find out a year later that they never cancelled the account and drained my HSA account! It's been over 2 months since I brought this up to the management, I had to email and ask over and over again, and the manager would only reply sporadicly, and only refunded 2 months out of the year. When I press to ask for full refund she just went radio silent. From the front desk error that "forgot" to cancel the account upon request, to the mismanagement that refuse to acknowledge their mistake and make things right with customer, this place is terrible to customers. I wonder how many people got their money scammed away. Beware of their malpractice and stay away if you can!

The office was clean and organized, and the front desk staff was courteous and helpful. Unfortunately, this location earns it's only star rating due to Dr. Mark Walker, who was rude and rushed through the appointment. His technique was simply lacking and inefficient. He grew impatient with me when I asked him to give me a moment before the neck adjustment portion of the visit and his subsequent response as he continued to snap at me was repulsive. I gathered my personal things quickly and left, disappointed at the lack of professionalism and the ignorance he displayed by treating clients poorly. Not worth the waste of time. I wish this was an isolated experience, but after asking a couple of friends and family who are also frequent clients of the Joint, I was cautioned to never return to this location because of similar experiences.

The worst customer service. Today I received the most racist customer service from the front check-in lady. Erica, This is a first-come-first service center. I was first in line. I love this location! The staff here always takes the time to understand where you are experiencing discomfort and really helps you feel back to being brand new before you leave! I have never had adjustments done prior to this. I almost feel that it is worse and that the Dr. needs to be a little more soft and someone that can put me at ease. He is very nice, however I feel worse today.....so bad that I am sick to the stomach with pain. The joint is great overall. Love the convince of no appointments. Recently the Docs have been switching up which makes it hard to establish a relationship and some adjusting techniques I prefer more so it would be nice to be able to know where to go to find certain Docs. Also the front desk staff have seemed unreliable lately (left and locked up with no sign and no one was there at all to see us or left and no one available to check us in or late because xyz life issue) is has made it difficult for me on a couple of occasions to get adjusted when I wanted so to get paper work for my HSA in a timely and efficieff manner. If the Docs were crossed trained to use the system then the break down in care would not have happened adding to my wait time and not getting the documents I need.

This place has been great for years, however Dr. Lauren has been my favorite so far. She genuinely addresses you as an individual patient. I’m downgrading the rating for this company. I have been going for over a year and have seen the staff change many times including the doctors. It seems that good employees don’t continue working for them. At the Heights location they FIRED Dr. Stuart who was their best doctor. They also began billing me and my family for no reason and without saying anything to me. I just would see these charges after a visit. One girl said she was correct in billing me extra and when I talked to her manager and she was corrected, her apology was “Oh my bad”. I tried talking to the owner Ben but he’s off enjoying his life and doesn’t actually get too involved with the business from what I understand. I also tried visiting other locations only to find the same attitude and poor staff members. I cancelled 5 memberships and don’t recommend this place to anyone.

Updated October 2019 Dr Lauren is no longer at this location; she can be found at the Houston Heights location. I still recommend her. The new doctor at the River Oaks location, Dr. Walker, was dismissive and didn't listen to my concerns. I was on the table for less than 60 seconds each time. During my most recent visit in September 2019, he chastised me for wanting to cancel my membership and laughed and said, "you'll be back!" During this adjustment he was moving so fast that I tensed up and asked him to give me a moment before he adjusted my neck as I was experiencing some anxiety. He disregarded my request and forced the adjustment then told me I was done. Even if I decide to resume my subscription, I will not return to this doctor at this location. ------- I went for an adjustment after tweaking my neck on vacation. The new client registration process can take 20-30 minutes so I recommend to call ahead to make sure they can accommodate. My initial visit was with Dr. Lauren who was attentive and answered all my questions until I was comfortable enough to begin. She recommended a few follow up visits so i bought the package. My next few visits were with Dr. Monty or Dr. Lauren (their schedule is posted in the reception area and on their Facebook page). Both doctors are great. I think Dr. Lauren is a bit more gentle in contact but both doctors are great. I will definitely continue with visits.

After gardening I hurt my lower back. I have never been to a chiropractor so I was freaked out a bit. My initial call was to inquiry about services and pricing. This place is great! Every time I go there, the place seems empty so this is my first review! I don’t want the place to shut down because nobody really knows about it! Getting decent Chiropractic care has gotten oh so expensive lately and the business model here is VERY convenient! $50 for 4 visits in a month! That’s what i used to pay for a single visit! They don’t do X-rays just adjustments. So if you are a believer in getting adjustments by a fantastic chiropractor, this no-frills place is heaven! Thanks Dr. Skaggs!

I purchased the 4 visits on Living Social recently and have to say I am pleasantly surprised with this place! I went in to see Dr. Skaggs to address my lower back pain after a fall. I have always been skeptical of chiropractic care, but after two visits my pain was much improved. Dr. Skaggs is very friendly and takes the time to explain the issues your body is having. I have never had to wait to be seen which is a huge plus!! I plan on purchasing the membership deal after my Living Social coupon is up.

I happened to be in this part of town and as I already was signed up on the monthly plan I decided to go in and see how this location worked. (I usually go to the Bunker Hill location). I was really "Wowed" by the great service I got here as well !! The Doctor was fantastic and I love that I needed no appointment !! I VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND that anyone who suffers from lower back and shoulder pain and also has a really busy schedule to go to The Joint. It trully fits my busy lifestyle and I am able to get the adjustments i need when I want it done with no advanced appointments. I love this place !

I was in dire need of an adjustment on a Sunday, they were the only place I found open. When I got there they were so friendly and quick throughout the process. As fast as they were it never felt rushed. I'm a bigger guy 6'1, 210lb and I've been to others that really couldn't do much, but Dr. Perez was a stout guy that did a great job. Highly recommended.

This "Clinic" sucks, they treat you like a factory production line rather than a patient ..they are nice with you the first day when you first go to find out , the Chiropractor takes time with the patient explaining and ajusting, then they hook you up to sign (pay) for 10, 20, 30 visits... after signing and going for treatment which "they said 5 mins" the chiropractor rush with you...and the 5 mins is really "2 mins".....they do not care for the patient..now I feel more pain in areas that I did not have before .... I'm so disgusted with the entire situation...

As someone who has been going for Chiropractic care since my twenties and I'm 52, I feel this is a wonderful way to get affordable chiropractic care. Most people don't pursue this type of care because it's usually expensive. My past treatments were usually $150 per visit with my old insurance. Here you get 4 treatments a month for a reasonable price if you join as a member. If you want convenience and quick in and out this is your place. If you want to waste hours and money go to the regular chiropractor.

The staff at the front desk are always friendly and remember me when I walk in even if it's been more than a week since my last visit. Both Dr. Simpson and Dr. Perez have treated me and I always leave feeling great. This place is great because there is always a place to park even though it's located in a very busy shopping center and each visit rarely take more than a few minutes. I would recommend friends or family to The Joint.

This isn't my first time at The Joint although its been a few years since I was here last. I came in because I recently had some health issues and this was my last step before going to a specialist. I met Dr. Simpson and explained my situation and he immediately had me lay down and explained everything he was doing and the reason for my pain. I already feel better which is saying a lot considering I've been in pain for the last six days. I most certainly recommend the Shepard location.
