3 Exercises That Are Great For Cold Weather
With all of the warm weather lately, it might feel like the cold weather is never going to arrive. In all honesty, however, it will be here before you know it. While the cool winds can bring a fresh change at first, it soon gets a bit too much. Suddenly, getting out of your warm bed to workout feels impossible! While fighting through this stage has its benefits, it can also be beneficial to see this as an opportunity to change up your regular routine. Take a look at these 3 exercises that are perfect for the cool winter months ahead.
Ice Skating
This might not work for everyone. If you live in the south or somewhere that doesn’t get really, really cold, it might not be easy to find a rink. For others, however, skating is a phenomenal workout. It requires body balance, muscle engagement, and even works the cardiovascular system. And, if you do live in a warmer climate, many malls or other locations open rinks this time of year, so you may be able to stay in shape while staying in the wintry holiday spirit.
At Home Workouts
The cool months could be a great time to break out the old at home workout dvd’s, or to buy a whole new program. Instead of having to drag yourself out of bed and then all the way to the gym, all you have to do is get to the living room. When the air is crispy, this is a lot easier than trudging through the cold wind. Plus, a lot of these dvd programs are awesome workouts. Yoga, pilates, interval training...all of these can be done in the comfort of your own home.
Hiking
This one can be tough when it gets really cold, but for the mid temperature months, hiking is a great activity. This is an activity that can be done at the hottest point of the day, and it will still be comfortable. It’s also a great family activity, so enjoying time as a family can be done at the same time as your fitness routine.
Just because the cold weather is approaching, it doesn’t mean that you have to lose all of your fitness progress. Instead, use this time to start something new, find a great challenge, and get in some really great shape. Then when the warm weather rolls back around, you will be fit and ready for shorts and tank tops before the warm weather even hits.
