Foods Catered Especially to Women's Health

The way you eat makes a big difference. Are you already thin or do you need to lose weight? Are you trying to gain muscle or lose fat? Are you trying to build strong bones? Are you trying to eat for healthy teeth?

All of these types of questions lead to minor changes in the diet. Another area that sees a small change in diet? Your gender! There are minor changes that you can make to tailor your diet to suit your gender. For women everywhere, check out these foods that, according to a recent article in Cooking Light, are beneficial just for you.

Kale

This is a delicious leafy green that is often found in two things: salads and smoothies. Either way is absolutely delicious! This veggie is full of antioxidants, which protect and repair damaged cells in the body. It also has a huge boost of Vitamin C which helps fight off illness and keep you generally healthier. Another lesser known vitamin that this green has in spades? Vitamin K. Vitamin K is essential for bone health, which for women is a great added bonus since women’s bones tend to be less dense than men’s.

Flaxseed

When I saw this on the list, I began to think about the people that I know that consume this. You know what? They are all women! Flaxseed is full of Omega 3 and fiber. This combination means that it can make you feel full so that you don’t overeat, and then it will flush the body of toxins and waste. It also contains an ingredient that is thought to help women fight and avoid hot flashes. This is a great food for women to add to the mix.

Salmon

This one is so good for the body in general, that it tops almost every list of healthy foods. For women, it has a healthy dose of Omega 3 Fatty Acids. That means that it is great for the joints - it can keep you moving! - and it is also great for the heart. If you are a pregnant woman or one that has recently given birth, eat up! This is a fish that is considered safe and it has been shown to help women beat those baby blues that come after having a baby.

If you are a woman and want to eat for your body, give any of these foods a try. They can give you some great healthy benefits that are specific to a woman’s body. Eat up to stay healthy and strong for years to come.
