For many, soda is one of the hardest habits to kick. Soda tastes good, can give you a small boost of energy, and is satisfying in general. Of course that’s a hard habit to kick! It is also not very good for you. It contains either too much sugar or an unhealthy alternative, caffeine, and empty calories.

While you may not necessarily want to give up soda, it is definitely a way to improve your overall health. If you find it difficult to kick the habit, check out these 3 alternatives that may make the process easier.

Tea

Ok, I know this doesn’t sound like a good alternative, but have you seen the multiple options out there?! Tea has come a long way. You can now choose between green tea, black tea, peppermint, mint, chamomile, pumpkin spice, blackberry...the options are endless! With the many choices available, it is highly likely that you will be able to find one that suits your fancy. If you’re brave, keep it interesting by changing it up constantly. This form of drink has less calories, less sugar, and even some healthy benefits to boot.

Flavored Water

This may not be extremely appetizing in the beginning, but giving your water a little flavor can really grow on you. For starters, you can buy flavored water in bottles. This can help you with the flavor and also with the habit since you can carry this bottle around with you. You can also choose to put fruit in your water which can change the flavor. Lemon, strawberry, kiwi, and lime are great options for giving your water a spruce.

Juice

If you choose to go this route, be careful. Not all juice is created equal. Some juice contains extremely high amounts of sugar, so be sure to read the labels. Go for 100% organic juice if possible. Apple, orange, grape, and cranberry are great options. If you miss the bubbly of soda, add sparkling water to your juice to trick your mind. After a while, you may find that you no longer crave or need the soda to satisfy your cravings.
