Relationships are crucial for our development and happiness in life. They help us build friendships, stay close to family, and meet new and interesting people to spend our time and our lives with. Sometimes, however, relationships are a lot of trouble. Is it worth the trouble? Only you can answer that. Some are definitely worth the effort, while others should be severed at the first possible opportunity. Give Without Expectation
If you are the ONLY one giving all of the time, then you may have a problem. But, it’s also important to see whether you are the only one taking. It is important to give in a relationship. Don’t give everything with nothing in return. But, likewise, don’t give with the expectation of getting something in return. Just give. If a relationship is worth it, the other person will also give without the expectation of return. You will take turns giving, and in the long run, you will both give what is needed to make the relationship work.
Find Some Common Interests
Most relationships are built on common interests. When there is trouble in paradise, we tend to forget about these commonalities or put them on the back burner. Instead, bring them to the forefront again. What do you enjoy doing together? Go out together to a place of mutual interest and desire. Spend time doing something that you both enjoy. It is imperative that you reconnect over the things you both love so that you can get back to loving each other again.
Make Time for Yourself
While it is extremely important to do things together, you should also make time for yourself. Want to go shopping, hunting, get your haircut, or just spend some time with your own thoughts? Do it. And, likewise, don’t make your significant other feel bad for needing time alone as well. Alone time can rejuvenate us, make us feel like ourselves again, and in the long run, get us back to wanting to spend time together again.
While not all relationships are worth it, some are definitely worth some effort and sacrifice. Determine which category yours falls into. If it is worth the effort, then use these tips to get started back down the right path. A good relationship is hard to replace, so protect the ones that are worth it for a healthy and happy life.
