Dr. Gary Embley became the local chiropractor for Magnolia in 2014 when he joined The Joint Chiropractic after practicing previously throughout the Houston area. Dr. Embley is a 2007 product of Texas Chiropractic College, but before that, he graduated in 1993 from University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a degree in criminal justice.
Dr. Embley first experienced chiropractic as a teenager in New Jersey. He was a high school football player who experienced severe headaches that wouldn’t go away, not even with medication. A chiropractic examination revealed a loss of curvature in his neck, which irritated the nerves and caused his headaches. After a series of chiropractic treatments, the headaches subsided and he was able to continue playing football into college.
“Having been a lifelong chiropractic patient since high school football,” Dr. Embley says, “when I decided to switch careers, it was an easy decision.”
He believes routine chiropractic care is the key to overall health and well-being. Dr. Embley has treated his own newborn son, as well as patients in their 90s. “Good health is never missed until it’s gone,” he says.
He relishes the chance to be part of a patient’s decision to live a healthier life. “It’s extraordinary to be able to deliver healthcare by using the body’s innate ability to heal itself,” he says. “I love working in Magnolia because it’s where the country meets the city, and it is wonderful to be a part of this community.”
Dr. Embley enjoys sports, which includes golfing and surfing, as well as spending time with wife Lacy, son Gavin, and their Boston terrier, Kali.
In Case You Didn’t Know
Being of Greek lineage, you might expect Dr. Embley to go for tzatziki, but because “everything tastes better with a little kick,” Sriracha hot sauce is his go-to condiment of choice.
An ideal dinner party for him is one that includes some of the biggest celebrities in their fields, including surfer Laird Hamilton.
“He’s an all-around waterman and surfer who, through his innovation and pioneering spirit, has tested the boundaries of what can be accomplished in the water,” Dr. Embley says. “Despite being famous, when I met him before, he was very humble and gracious enough to take a picture with a group of us.”
Humble and gracious would not describe another member of Dr. Embley’s ideal dinner party: General George Patton, whose “courage, patriotism, and his ability to lead others through tremendous adversity” are admirable traits.
Another type of general, of the filmmaking kind, is Clint Eastwood. No doubt, Dirty Harry would be a topic of conversation. “I grew up watching his movies,” Dr. Embley says. “He has a keen sense of how to tell a story through his directing abilities.”
Rounding out Dr. Embley’s ideal dinner table is “Deepak Chopra, because of his philosophy on alternative medicine and how we play a role in the universe.”
And if they have trouble getting the conversation started, they might consider the notion of jumping out of a plane.
“Skydiving,” Dr. Embley will tell them, “is the coolest thing I’ve ever done.”
Born and raised in Texas, Dr. Drake earned his Bachelors of Science from Texas State University. Dr. Drake then went on to receive his Doctorate in Chiropractic and graduated with honors, summa cum laude, and was valedictorian of his class at the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Florida in 2019.
His first experienced chiropractic as a teenager after an injury while playing baseball in high school. “After over a year of dealing with a baseball injury and two failed surgeries based on incorrect diagnoses, I finally sought care from a chiropractor. They were able to get me back on the field for my Senior year after only two months of care.” Even then, as a high school athlete, he recognized the importance of a conservative and comprehensive approach when addressing injuries and taking proactive measures to prevent future recurrences. Now as a Doctor of Chiropractic, Dr. Drake recommends treatments based on these principles while being always mindful of when a referral for alternative or invasive measures might be suitable.
When asked about his experiences at The Joint Dr. Drake says, “I love working at The Joint Chiropractic because I’ve been able to help far more patients at our clinics than I would have in private practice clinics. Being part of this nationwide network of clinics means my patients have access to convenient care at rates that they can easily afford.”
“The best thing about practicing chiropractic is being able move patients past their pain and truly improve their health and quality of life,” shared Dr. Drake. During his interview he also disclosed that the second-best thing about being a chiropractor at The Joint is being able to get adjusted himself on a regular basis.
In his spare time, Dr. Drake enjoys being outdoors, working around the house, watching sports, spending quality time with his lifelong love and wife, and confessed to being a consummate student of the profession, constantly researching and reading about the latest in developments and clinical research impacting chiropractic care.

The one must have thing in Dr. Drake’s fridge is lime seltzer water. "It’s my way of avoiding drinking any soda, and I find it’s almost always refreshing."
