Doctor Kathryn Sherman joined The Joint at the beginning of 2017 and will be working out the new location at Greenlawn in south Round Rock. Before joining the Joint, Doctor Sherman worked as an associate in another clinic in Waterloo, Iowa.
Doctor Kathryn attended undergrad at the University of Northern Iowa to focus on pre-med, where she earned her degree in Biology as well as minors in chemistry and earth science. She then went on to attend chiropractic college at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport Iowa.
For Doctor Sherman, the two best things about being in the Chiropractic field are being able to help people achieve better health and well being, and knowing she is helping to make a positive difference in people’s lives.
In her free time, Doctor Sherman enjoys spending time with her wife and companion of 10 years, Ashley, who is a Wellness Coordinator with the Joint. The two of them enjoy exploring their new city, going on hikes, going to movies, and spending down time at home when things get hectic. They have three fur babies (cats) named Mendel, Scrabble, and Soju.
Always wanting to be some kind of health care provider, and seeing the turn healthcare was taking toward more natural, holistic means, and not wanting to cover up people’s problems with a pill, she found Chiropractic and changed her course of schooling from medicine and orthopedic surgery, to Chiropractic. As the saying goes, you choose to be a chiropractor, being a chiropractor chooses you! The best thing to Doctor Kathryn about working at this new location in Greenlawn is that she has been given the opportunity to prove to herself and those around her that she can, and will, succeed, no matter how nervous she might be at times! One thing Doctor Sherman always has in her fridge is soy sauce--you can’t cook good rice without it, and no rice, no life.
If she could have any four guests at a dinner party, living or dead, Doctor Kathryn would choose founder of the theory of evolution Charles Darwin, spiritual leader the Dalai Lama, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg, and North Korean defector and human rights activist Yeonmi Park. The Doctor chose these four because each of these people have influenced and/or inspired her in their own unique ways.
One of the coolest things Doctor Kathryn has done besides becoming a doctor, was being a 3-year member of her collegiate women’s rugby team at Northern Iowa and competing in the Division I Women's’ Rugby National Collegiate Championships.
After Dr. Doan graduated from Parker University in Dallas, Tx. in 2016, He returned home to his hometown of Austin, Texas to be an integral part of his community in providing quality health care. After opening a private practice, Dr. Doan expanded the opportunity to help the community by joining the great team from The Joint in 2019. Dr. Doan is also an alumnus of The University of Texas Austin, “HOOK’EM HORNS”, with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology in 2008. He believes that the best thing about chiropractic is the rewards of touching the lives of so many people in a way that gives them answers, hope, and relief. The second best thing about chiropractic, is that the chiropractic community is full of good and positive energy.
Dr. Doan loves any and all things sports. Current hobbies include cycling, very passionate about weight training, rock climbing, and running. He would love to one day start competing in triathlons, but definitely needs to make drastic improvements on swimming first! Other things that Dr. Doan is passionate about is spending time with his girlfriend, family, and friends.
“What made me passionate about becoming the person I am today, I never want to be helpless when someone dear to me is suffering. Both of my parents worked so hard to give their family a better life. To that end, they both ended up having back surgery. I only wish I could have helped them more.” - Dr. Doan
“What I enjoy most about working at The Joint in my hometown of Austin are the big smiles, handshakes, and occasional hugs from making a difference.” -Dr. Doan If Dr. Doan was to go grocery shopping, he would make sure that there was a balance of vegetables, fruit, and PROTEIN. He likes to exercise and replenish the body. If he were to have the perfect dinner party, the four people he was envite would be Mr. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Elon Musk, Dywane Johnson, God.
“The coolest thing that I’ve ever done, travel and experience the world because it humbled me to the great things about the simplicities of life. The most important thing that I could ever do, is to love family.” - Dr. Doan
