4 Remedies for Back Pain
Waking up with a stiff back is one of the worst ways to get up in the morning. This often means that you’ll experience a sore back all day long, and you’ll probably go to bed with an aching back as well. Back pain is one of the most common types of pains experienced by adults. If you are a sufferer of back pain, here are some simple remedies for getting rid of that aching back.
Cold and heat. Using either a cold compress or heating pad, or alternating between both, may alleviate some types of back pain. Both cold and heat can reduce inflammation which may be resulting in some stiffness and soreness. If you don’t have time to lay with something on your back, try an on-the-go like option like IcyHot which alternates between a cooling and warming effect.
Over the counter medications. Even if you would rather not take stronger prescription medications, taking an occasional over the counter medication like Tylenol or Ibuprofen can alleviate pain and inflammation. If you’re concerned about taking too much medication, you can alternate between types of over the counters in order to give your body a little break. If your pain is consistent, this option may only work until you are able to get further assistance from a professional.
Exercise. A small bit of exercise can alleviate a lot of aches in the body. While initially it may cause a little bit more pain, it won’t be long until the pain begins to diminish. Both exercising and stretching takes tension from the muscles and joints, which in turn results in less pain all over the body, including the back. For most types of back pain, stick to light exercises like bike riding, walking, or swimming.
Chiropractic Care. Sometimes the pain is more than one can handle on their own. If this is the case for you, it might be time to see a chiropractor. A chiropractor can manually adjust the spine to get the vertebrae back in alignment. This often alleviates back pain, along with many other types of pain throughout the body.
Luckily, seeing a chiropractor is easier than ever. Where once getting chiropractic care may have been a difficult task, it has become easier in recent years. At clinics like The Joint...the Chiropractic Place, affordable prices and walk-in appointments make seeing a chiropractor a cinch. If you’re experiencing back pain, getting an adjustment might make all the difference.
