Having Heart Trouble? Your Chiropractor May Be Able to Help
When advancing years, heart trouble and overweight struck a friend of mine, he just seemed to give up. Everything was an effort, and there seemed to be no positive answers. His diet was not working and the warnings from his doctor were increasing as his blood pressure continued to go up.
My friend’s daily schedule took a down turn as he began reducing his work hours, and cutting out other activities that he used to love like hiking and camping. His friends talked with him and encouraged him to not give up, but to look for better answers.
His first visit to the chiropractor launched some changes
The chiropractor’s goal is to treat without medicine or surgery and to help to find ways to relieve pain wherever possible. The first visit starts with a spinal manipulation to evaluate the health of the spine. A complete medical history and a discussion of daily activities is also covered.
In my friend’s case, the first visit led to a succession of visits to the chiropractor, a new low fat, high protein diet with lots of fresh vegetables and fruits, and regular exercises. My friend also began to swim on a daily basis, which helped him relax and continue to lose weight. His whole life began to work together better as he gained energy and focus and control. Gradually he chose exercises that he really enjoyed and improved his strength and health numbers.
Together with his doctor and the chiropractor, my friend was able to regain control of his life. His numbers at the doctor’s office improved as he lost weight and exercised. His blood pressure, cholesterol and sugar levels all improved. He also found that he could return to hiking and camping and get back to a regular schedule at work.
His advances took several months and did not all run perfectly, but my friend did say he felt like his life was being returned to him.
Had he not been pushed by his friends to get back in the game, my friend’s story might not have been so positive. If you know of someone who is facing serious health issues, and weight problems, you might suggest that they see their doctor and chiropractor to help get things back on track.
