Dr. Sherman Rawlins is a native Texan and graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he received a bachelor of science degree with an emphasis on health promotion and fitness leadership. Dr. Rawlins attained his doctorate degree in chiropractic from Texas Chiropractic College in 2009.
Dr. Rawlins’ a-ha moment -- when he knew what he wanted to do professionally -- took place while in his teens: “I was working as a student athletic trainer in high school alongside a local chiropractor who was very effective at treating athletes through the use of his hands.”
Beginning his professional career practicing in Port Arthur, Dr. Rawlins spent three years providing personal injury chiropractic care to patients throughout the Golden Triangle area. He returned to the Houston area in 2013 to join a family-oriented chiropractic practice offering more comprehensive and broader ranges of chiropractic care for patients of all ages and activity levels.
Dr. Rawlins was introduced to The Joint Chiropractic in April 2015 and immediately recognized the potential his expertise would have within its innovative model to introduce chiropractic care to a greater population, many of whom were never aware of chiropractic’s benefits.
“One of the best things about being in chiropractic is helping patients accomplish lifestyle goals and do things they didn’t think they could ever do again due to pain, or even think was possible, due to physical limitations,” Dr. Rawlins says. “The other great thing is accomplishing treatment goals without the use of medicine or surgery.”
Dr. Rawlins joined The Joint’s Market Street clinic in The Woodlands in June of 2016 taking on the role of Clinic Director. His dedication to excellence, relentless pursuit of optimal patient results, extensive knowledge of the human body and spine, and his honed and applied expertise with numerous chiropractic techniques, have led to chiropractic success for countless children, elite athletes, personal trainers, weekend warriors, and overworked moms and dads.
Not surprisingly, Dr. Rawlins tailors treatments specifically to the needs of each patient while educating patients on the merits of a healthy lifestyle, chiropractic care, its intended results, and chiropractic implications on improved mobility and quality of life. Under his direction, Dr. Rawlins has led The Joint Market Street to becoming one of the highest performing and most highly-rated chiropractic clinics in Houston.
“I enjoy my patients and the community I work in,” he says.
When he’s not practicing family chiropractic, Dr. Rawlins enjoys the arts, traveling, shopping and music. He’s a big fan of Houston’s professional sports teams.
In Case You Didn’t Know
Dr. Rawlins always keeps milk in his refrigerator for one very simple reason: “I enjoy eating cereal.” And if he were to have breakfast with anyone he could, he would be sharing that cereal with the likes of President Obama, media mogul Oprah Winfrey, and legendary singers Whitney Houston and John Mayer.
“I enjoy music and John and Whitney are two of my all-time favorite artists,” he says. “Politics aside, President Obama is a historic figure and a brilliant orator, and what’s not to like about Oprah? With such an accomplished career, I would love to just pick her brain.”
One of the most amazing things Dr. Rawlins has ever accomplished involves one of his biggest fears. “I have a fear of being out in the middle of the ocean,” he says, “so the fact that I’ve gone snorkeling is the coolest thing I’ve ever done.”
Dr. Yuwei Zhang (pronounced U-way John), joined The Joint Chiropractic in March 2016 and began practicing at the Market Street clinic in August of that year. Upon graduating from Louisiana State University with a bachelor degree in biology, Dr. Yuwei (as she prefers to be called) went on to attain a master’s degree in 2012 from Louisiana-Monroe and finally her doctorate in chiropractic at Palmer College of Chiropractic in 2015.
It was during her three years at chiropractic college in Daytona Beach, Fla., that Dr. Yuwei knew she had found her calling as a local chiropractor. During her second quarter, the Palmer Student Clinic helped resolve her own chronic lower back pain thus cementing her decision to become a chiropractor.
She sees it as a privilege to be able to practice as a respected professional, enjoying an enriching career and lifestyle, all while helping free others from their pain and keeping them pain free. Dr. Yuwei is grateful to every patient she has the opportunity to help and for the environment The Joint provides her and her patients.
Dr. Yuwei says the thing she likes best about working at The Joint Market Street is the ability to apply focus area soft tissue techniques in combination with the chiropractic adjustment for optimal results. “I have found it to be necessary for managing acute pain, as well as chronic tightness and stiffness,” she says. “Patients are happy to see that I am not just ‘flying 7’, but I am actually loosening up the specific muscle related to their condition.”
In her spare time, Yuwei enjoys traveling, which inspires her other hobby: painting in watercolor.
In Case You Didn’t Know
When it comes to food, Dr. Yuwei must have a tofu and bok choy combination in her refrigerator at all times. And if she’s looking to share that with her ideal dining companions, she would love to do so with Jackie Chan, Roger Moore, Michelangelo and Mozart.
“I love Jackie Chan movies and he might be fun to be around, and Roger Moore seems charming and might be a very pleasant and entertaining guest,” Dr. Yuwei says. “I’m a big fan of Michelangelo’s art, and I would love for Mozart to play any instrument and composition of his choosing for the party.”
Dr. Yuwei grew up in China, which allowed her to climb the Great Wall of China and sail down the Yangtze River. “The majestic natural beauty of China, in combination with the culture and history, has such power on visitors,” Dr. Yuwei says. “Living in China was one of the most rewarding and enlightening things I have experienced in my life thus far.”

She later attended A.T. Still university where she obtained her Master’s degree in Kinesiology with a concentrated focus on Sports Conditioning, Corrective Exercise and Orthopedic Rehabilitation. She went on to achieve her Doctorate of Chiropractic degree from Texas Chiropractic College which was highly influenced by her grandmother. Dr. Minniefield states: “Seeing my grandmother take so much medication a day made me concerned for her overall health, I remember thinking there has to be another way. When I was introduced to chiropractic I fell in love with the concept to self -heal and help others in a natural way.”
Dr. Minniefield has a passion for helping others and giving back to her community. She works well with patients of all ages ranging from children to athletes and even entire families. She is a strong believer in chiropractic for children and has a special connection with athletes as she was an athlete herself. Her biggest motivator are the hugs and smiles she receives from her patients, her ultimate goal is to help others who are experiencing pain or discomfort make the most of their daily activities.
