How to Exercise Outdoors Without Realizing It

Both adults and children alike can enjoy exercise outdoors without even realizing it. Exercise doesn’t have to involve a vigorous workout that seems difficult to accomplish. Something as simple as playing catch provides the opportunity for fitness one needs. Parents and their kids can head outside and spend time together engaging in physical activities that seem fun. They’ll want to do it again and again.

Make it a Game

Exercise doesn’t have to mean doing something physical in a timed interval. Make it a game to seem more fun and exciting and take however long the game requires. Though a game of catch will suffice, something that gets the body moving a bit more is even better. Set up a goal and take turns seeing who can get the most shots. Play hopscotch. Jump rope. Tag. Plenty of options exist that can be done outside.

Make the Climb

Climbing requires a great deal of strength and helps to work out the entire body. Kids often enjoy climbing trees, and adults can try this for some fitness fun as well. Climb a tree, hike up a hill, climb the jungle gym, and engage the body in an activity that will have it aching in no time.

Make Chores Fun

Outdoor chores don’t just help people get things done. They also help them exercise. Certain chores, such as washing the car, have the body bending and moving in a way it usually doesn’t. By turning this activity into something fun, people won’t even notice all the movement and exercise they’re getting. Parents and children can enjoy washing the car together, spraying each other with the hose, throwing suds at each other, and more. It will be an enjoyable bonding experience.

Make Time for a Bike Ride

A bike ride is a joyful pastime that people can enjoy in most seasons. As long as there’s sunshine in the sky, people can head out on their bikes for an adventure. Many people ride without realizing they’re exercising thanks to the joyous feeling they experience while doing so. Cycling allows people to fill the wind in their hair and the sunshine on their face as they ride and get fit in the process. It’s ideal for physical and mental health.

Outdoor exercise not only promotes fitness, but also helps to reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety. Being outside enjoying the fresh air as the body works is a great way to de-stress and relax, allowing the mind to feel clear and free for a while.
