Chiropractic Suggestions for Item Switches
By Brandi Goodman
Certain items cause more harm to your health than you may realize. With some chiropractic suggestions in mind, you can make necessary item switches that benefit your well-being. Start with one change at a time until you're comfortable with them all.
Switch Your Mattress
Your mattress may be a major culprit of your pain. A lumpy, bumpy mattress does your body no favors. Experts suggest changing it at least every eight years, but you shouldn't wait that long if you know you need a new one now. If yours starts to go bad sooner, make the switch to a new style promptly so you can avoid the damage it does to your spine.
Switch Your Pillow
Your pillow should get changed out annually. By that point, it's probably been flattened down or turned into a lumpy mess after washing. Each year, buy yourself a new pillow that is far more supportive for your neck and head. A better option would be a chiropractic pillow that cradles your neck and keeps your spine aligned while you sleep.
Switch Your Shoes
High heels, flats, and bulky boots are not ideal for your feet, legs, or lower back. They can actually cause a lot of discomfort and problems. Switch out your shoes for an athletic pair with good traction and support. These are far more beneficial for your lower body and spine. It's also important that you have several pairs. Wearing one pair daily will result in them quickly wearing down and not offering the support they once had.
Switch Your Bag
Lots of people carry purses, messenger bags over one shoulder, and other versions. You should switch out all of these with a backpack that has two straps to go over your shoulders. This results in even weight distribution of the stuff inside. Your shoulder won't sag under the weight of everything you have in the bag when you put the backpack over both.
Just a few switches like this can go a long way toward improving your well-being. If you've been experiencing chronic pain for one reason or another, it's time to start making changes that can help. If you notice yourself feeling sore upon waking, while you're using a particular bag, or wearing a certain pair of shoes, don't continue using them and pushing past it. You should change them out with a better option so you can feel as good as possible.
