Dr. John Lofgren, the son of Swedish immigrants, grew up on a farm in northwestern Illinois close to the Mississippi river. He attended Augustana College with the intention of going to medical school. After learning about and studying chiropractic care and the way it can be used to improve quality of life for so many people, Dr. Lofgren adjusted his career path, graduating from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1987.

After practicing in Illinois, he moved to Richmond, Virginia in 1989, working as an associate chiropractor. He opened his own practice in 1992 and provided care, treatment, and relief to hundreds of patients before closing the practice to work at The Joint in August 2017. Dr. Lofgren began working for The Joint’s Fredericksburg clinic in August 2021 where he is the Clinic Director.

He has a daughter who lives with her husband and 2 children in Richmond where she works as a nurse anesthetist. Dr. Lofgren also resides in the Richmond area where he regularly attends church and enjoys active nature sports.

Dr. Matthew Foster was born and raised in a small town called Forest, located in Southwest Virginia, where he strived to help make a change and give back to his local community. Dr. Foster has been able to give back in many ways, from helping aspire younger generations by teaching Anatomy & Physiology at the local community college, to being involved and volunteering in various civic organizations that include: Rotary Club, Ruritan Club, local Chamber of Commerce, and being a Master Freemason.

As a sophomore football player at Jefferson Forest High School, Dr. Matthew Foster sustained injuries in the weight room. Unfortunately, he had trouble finding true relief. After going through specialty stretches, physical therapy, and pain medication, the pain was merely masked rather than relieved. Finally, he paid a visit to a Chiropractor in Bedford, VA. After seeing the miracle-like effect a chiropractic adjustment can have on a healing body, Matthew discovered his future career.

“The chiropractic profession, where you can heal people with your hands, is almost biblical.” Says Dr. Foster, “My uncle Paul Foster is a physician’s assistant and was a big role model for me growing up. I remember him always talking about how many people come through the office seeking pain medications.”

Knowing the toll that pain medication takes on your body, Dr. Foster set out on his mission to heal people with his hands.

Dr. Matthew Foster attended Liberty University for his undergraduate degree in Education and continued on to his chiropractic education at the renowned Palmer College of Chiropractic in Florida. Dr. Matthew Foster completed his preceptorship and began practicing as a licensed chiropractor at Tuck Chiropractic Clinic in Bedford, VA in the Fall of 2017.

Dr. Foster has had the opportunity to explore some of the alternative methods to administering chiropractic care beyond spinal manipulation, He is certified to administer dry needling, activator methods, instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization, and Epley’s Technique for vertigo, along with many other techniques. Dr. Foster is excited to be in Fredericksburg, VA and enjoys the opportunity to work with patients at the Joint Chiropractic clinic locations. He hopes to continue to build relationships within the Spotsylvania County community and surrounding areas.

    if you’re looking for a welcoming chiropractor who genuinely wants to help you feel better DO NOT GO TO MATTHEW FOSTER. the guy looked and sounded like he did not want to be there. he has a very condescending vibe and it immediately made me uncomfortable. Paid $55 for him to take my blood pressure and move my limbs. No adjustment. It doesn’t say this anywhere but make sure you get cleared for chiropractic treatment before or else you’ll end up wasting money. Lady at the desk was cool tho

    Very disappointing experience with Dr. David Foster at The Joint Chiropractic on March 25, 2025. The visit felt rushed, and his demeanor was dismissive and condescending. To be fair, he did a good job addressing my shoulder, but overall it felt like the bare minimum was done. I clearly explained that I have an ongoing jaw issue and that another chiropractor at this same location had previously treated it successfully. Despite that, he did not address it at all during the session. When I asked about it at the end, he said he wasn’t the one who treated it before and responded, “why break something that isn’t broken,” because I seemed “fine.” That completely ignored my concerns. What stood out most was his response when I told him I felt unheard—he simply said, “do what you got to do,” instead of trying to understand or improve the situation. Unprofessional, dismissive, and not patient-focused. I will be avoiding this doctor in the future.

    12 year concrete guy here and I own a small landscaping business. Over the years I’ve hurt my back a good bit, but this last time I hurt it pretty bad could barely pick up simple things like a 2x4. I’m not one to goto the doctor but needed to do something.     First time and will not be the last time. Friendly staff and the place was super welcoming. One thing that struck me upon arrival was how clean the facility is. Then there was the adjustment…. I should have gone there a couple years ago and not held out. It was an immediate relief. I had no idea how unnecessarily uncomfortable I had become. Great work and my thanks to the team.

    I am not one to leave reviews…. Racially Profiled at The Joint Chiropractic – Extremely Disappointed My experience with The Joint Chiropractic was not only unprofessional but deeply offensive. My husband and I were preparing for our first visit to one of their locations when I received some disturbing information. Apparently the Operations Manager Mrs. Williams at the Cosner’s Corner location called and told them not to treat me. She insisted that I had already been to her establishment earlier and claimed I reported being in a car accident. I explained clearly that I had never been to that location in my life. Her reasoning? She said “the people at her location said it was a Black woman with locs, so it had to be me.” This assumption based solely on my race and hairstyle is a textbook example of racial profiling. I was made to defend myself over the phone for nearly 20 minutes before she finally admitted her mistake and offered an apology. What’s worse — after I had left the establishment, she called me back trying to offer a free consultation/first visit to make up for what happened. At that point, the damage was already done. I honestly no longer feel comfortable being treated at any of your locations. This was supposed to be a simple chiropractic appointment, but instead, it became an experience rooted in racial bias and assumption. That is unacceptable. I hope The Joint Chiropractic takes this seriously and addresses the clear need for better staff training and accountability. — A disappointed and hurt (would-be) customer

    This business is a big scam try to avoid it as much possible. My wife went there and paid 29$ for first visit and wanted to pay by cash for every visit . They tricked her and made her sign the papers and denied the cash acceptance and asked her for credit card . How ever she told them that she doesn’t want to continue with them they started charging her without even providing the service . After I called in and they refused to talk to me , I sent my wife in and they told her that they can not refund the money and they made her sign the paper to cancel the monthly plan . What kind of business charges people without providing the service and when asked for refund and they refuse to do it . This business needs to be shut down and investigate for fraud .     This business is a scam. I had one session, was signed up for a monthly deal, I was injured and couldn’t move for several days after my first session. I didn’t leave a review, instead I decided to be polite and just go in and cancel my membership in person (as required) and they have since charged me monthly (5 months). I called in 2 months ago and they credited back 2 months, and have now taken those credits back. They have charged me again (today) and I have received zero communication from them. This is $89 since August. Nearly $500 of theft.

I went to primary Dr first to rule out any breaks on arm/shoulder=negative, i was offered pain meds,i refused(its a band aid over the problem). I then immediately went to this facility.     I’ll start with the fact that i have never been more pressured to get a membership including before i was even looked at. I said 4+ times that I was not interested in getting a membership at all that day and would like to see how it went. I proceeded to go back where I was once again trying to be sold a membership twice before i received any treatment and said i was not going to sign onto a membership today and the attitude towards me began to shift. Before the adjustment began i said i did not want my neck adjusted under any circumstances as i had neck problems a couple weeks back which my primary care doctor already took care of completely. We did the adjustment which took about 2 minutes before the doctor asked to take a look at my neck which i saw no problem with as long as it wasn’t adjusted or anything and before i could even say anything he cracked my neck without any warning. I was done and wanted to leave thank god the appointment was done and before i could leave the doctor walked me up and told the receptionist that i was signing up for a membership which i once again had to say that i wasn’t. The following 3 days my neck hurt and my back felt worse than it had when i walked in.

    Disappointed. My first and last time there. Went in with pain in shoulder blade that radiated to elbow and pinky I was hoping they could help me. My regular chiropractors office was closed so I took a chance here out of desperation. After filling out paperwork and waiting to see the doctor I was not given any treatment. If possible go to a proper chiropractors office. This is more a place for a quick adjustment. It is not the best place to go if you have an ongoing issue.

    On April 27th, my husband and I signed up for a membership with Joint Chiropractor, Fredericksburg, VA, which included extra visits and monthly sessions for $89 per person. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to use some of those sessions in May for health issues, and then our family was involved in a car accident on May 31st, which led me to cancel our membership. To my dismay, I was told that we would forfeit all unused sessions, totaling over 10, which seemed unfair given our situation. The only alternative offered was to freeze our account, but this would only leave us with 4 sessions for June, effective June 27th, resulting in the loss of all other sessions. I'm extremely dissatisfied with Joint Chiropractor's membership program and would strongly advise against joining. Their inflexible policies and lack of empathy during difficult circumstances make me feel like I've been scammed. I will not recommend their membership to anyone.

Was advised that I could reschedule for tomorrow. Informed them that I am an extreme pain and really need to be seen, but the receptionist, acted like she didn't really care and said she tried to text me, but I didn't receive any text. She also said she emailed me but when I checked, I saw that the email that I got was only an hour before my appointment time.     My wife tries to get her back cracked here a lot, because we pay for the monthly service. But everytime she goes or we stop by always 1 to 2 hour wait time. Very inconvenient for something that is supposed to be convenient.

    It was a very good experience overall. Very convenient! Staff very responsive. Only downside is not very Hippa secure. No rooms or walls for patient confidentiality. Open concept. Everyone could hear my business. Not a fan of that but chiropractor was very thorough and explained everything!

    I've never been to a chiropractor before so I wasn't sure what to expect, I was dealing with horrible pain caused by sciatica that was preventing me from being able to sleep or doing anything without pain. Dr Foster was so incredible, he talked to me and gathered information about the issue i was having, he was so thorough in getting all the information he needed from me to figure out the root cause of my pain and did outstanding work to relieve the pain that was making me miserable. He explained to me the treatment plan I needed to really help me in the long run and made sure that I didn't have any unanswered questions or concerns before he began the adjustment and again before I left. 10/10 I recommend !! Also, William who assisted me when I walked in was absolutely amazing and personable, he explained how I would most likely need to have follow up visits for my pain, and also treated me better than any person I've ever met in this situation by engaging in an actual conversation with me and actually realizing that we had a few things in common. I'm looking forward to going back in a few days!!

    Today at my visit, I was greeted by Will who was equally personable and sweet as he was on the phone when I initially inquired about visiting. I did not mind waiting as all patients were seen in a timely manner before me. Dr. Lofgren was very informative and allowed me to listen to all the knowledge he has. After sharing our perspectives, we were able to find some solutions… I hate going into a medical office to be told nothing is wrong. That wasn’t the case here and I’m thankful. After my evaluation, exam, and treatment, I left better than I came. I will definitely keep up with my treatment plan to hopefully resolve my radiating pain. Even after todays first alignment, I feel a release of tension in my body.

    I have been going for 2 months now. I love that I can walk in, and that it's open later and during the weekends. In the 2 months, I have only waited once and it was less than 5 minutes. If I happened to walk in with a wait, I could go to their other location or come back another time soon. There are several doctors who rotate between their locations, and they are able to review my file and ask about any new or ongoing concerns before the adjustments. I walk in not knowing how tight I am, and walk out feeling like I'm light as a feather. This works for me as someone who works as a UPS delivery driver, walking all day, stepping on and off the truck and on different surfaces all day. This regimen is a great maintenance tool to support my work and personal life in which I am also active. Thank you Joint Chiropractic for your help and support to help me feel and do better.

    Yesterday I was in and had the weakest adjustment, by a chiropractor I found very off putting. He seemed patronizing about my desk job and that I didn't come more. He has no idea my financial situation or what's been going on in my personal life. I just needed help with a good adjustment, including between my shoulders. I asked for between my shoulders when he asked where. He barely touched that area, and I mentioned this when he was done. He said come back and we will work on more. I feel bad to leave this review but it truly was so disappointing and awkward,. Did I mention I'm laying in bed awake at midnight doing traction to between my shoulders and can feel how out it is still?

    If I could give zero stars, I would. I went here a few months ago on a recommendation from a coworker and the old man is who I got as my chiropractor. I told him that I had a neck injury from a previous car accident and that if he was going to touch my neck he would have to be extra careful. He insisted that he could fix me, put me in a chair, and wrenched on my neck. I was out of work for the next four days and almost had to go to the hospital. I was in so much pain they didn't even charge me for that appointment because I got dragged upfront by this man in tears and basically thrown to the front desk people saying I would need three appointments a week with this man to "fix me". I have been in constant pain since and if I had the money, I would press charges. Do not let the old man work on you if you value your body.

    I found Dr. Edut and she has been fantastic at relieving some shoulder and neck pain. I've seen other chiropractors but none yet as effective as her. Most just crack bones and send you on your way. She takes time to stretch the muscles while working the actuator. Thank you.

    This place was great when I first signed up. Then I was charged for a month and was unable to visit due to work and family obligations. Because I didn’t foresee being able to continue at the time I put my account on freeze. When I put my account on freeze I was told o would not lose my 4 visits that I paid for in the month of August. Well, I went in to get an adjustment and was told that 1) I can’t get it done because my account is on freeze and 2) that the visits I paid for in August are now expired and they won’t refund me for a month that I paid for and didn’t use. It was never explained to me when I signed up that I had to use those visits within the paid month or they would expire. The staff really needs to be more informative when signing people up instead of just worrying about making money. I’m not trying to get anything free…I’m simply trying to use what I paid for. I will be cancelling and finding a chiropractor that spends more than 3 minutes with me each visit.

    Great place, you can schedule appointments or do walk ins. They are very flexible when it comes payments. They also except FHA/FSA’s. They take there time with you listen to what has brought you in to see them and gives you some insight to what’s going on. They give you a screen to see where you are before making any corrections to help start the process. Love the place the management team is awesome very thorough with all the information. You should try it , my wife and I did.

    What an absolutely phenomenal experience, starting with Kim at the front desk and interacting with Dr. Capri. I only intended to get the new patient special offer that was going on because my budget is very limited right now as a full time student but we were able to figure out a way for me to get the care I needed and could also afford. I have been searching for a new chiropractor that I trust and enjoy for almost 10 years now and I think I have found the place!

    I had a very good experience. The chiropractor was very informative and explained everything in a way that made since to me. She even gave me an exercise to do at home to help with some of the pain I’ve been experiencing.

    Upon entering I met with the front desk . She was knowledgeable, empathetic, and extremely professional. The intake is thorough as it should be. The owner was even there and greeted me personally. But where everything just came all together was with the Doctor. Dr. Taylor is BEYOND experienced and does not force anything. She worked slowly with such detail to my body that I could only wish I'd found her ten years ago. As a woman, she understood my issues on a very personal level. She catered her treatment to MY needs by listening and asking lots of questions . We should all be so lucky to have a doctor of chiropractic like Dr. TAYLOR.

    Visited 3/26......so happy to have this location open now. I have the monthly package and it is so worth it if you have issues in your spine like curvature, herniation...etc. I've never in my life been able to visit the chiropractor 4 times a month at such a low price.

    Don’t go here. Went for the grand opening and just wanted an adjustment. The chiropractor harassed me about setting up a plan. I don’t mind suggesting and I said I’d talk it over with my wife since I’m unemployed at the moment, but he persisted that she wouldn’t care and that I could afford the expense. He went on about 5 times complaining for me to get it. I went out to the front desk to talk to receptionist if there was anything else that was needed and he came out and whined more about why am I not signing a plan. Very unprofessional
