3 Days to Better Health: Here's What You Can Do
By Genevieve Cunningham
The thought of changing our health can be a daunting one. We imagine that it takes a really long time and a whole lot of effort. And it's true that you'll need to focus and put in some major work. But getting started doesn't have to be a daunting task. In fact, you can turn your health around in just three days and three new habits. If you're looking for a jump start to better health, take a look at these three steps to get you moving in the right direction right now.
Go to Sleep
On day one, start by setting a bedtime and sticking with it. Sleep is a crucial part of good health, and the vast majority of people don't get enough rest. Good sleep can contribute to weight loss, better mental function, more stable emotional health, and more. It matters! Just keep in mind that you'll maintain this bedtime from here on out, so choose a time you can actually keep.
Drink Water
On day two, consider adding water to your daily menu. After your morning coffee, drink a glass of water. Instead of a soda or tea with lunch, choose water. Throughout the day, add just a little more water to your daily life. Most people don't realize just how much of an impact dehydration can make on your health and life. Make steady water consumption a habit, and you'll be well on your way to better health.
Get Outdoors
Nature is a key ingredient to good health, so day three should add a few minutes of outdoor activity to your day. Maybe you can sit outside on the porch with your coffee in the morning. Maybe you can take an evening walk. Maybe it's just soaking in some sunshine midday for a grand total of five minutes. Just make sure that you create a habit of getting outdoors in order to protect your lungs, your brain, your bones, and your long-term mental well-being.
The key to better health is to take it one day -- one habit -- at a time. Don't overwhelm yourself. Start small. Use these three daily habits to get you moving in the right direction, and you'll be enjoying better health in your life in no time at all.
