How to Be Happy With Your Fitness Routine
By Brandi Goodman
Everyone needs a fitness routine they enjoy. You can't just say you'll work out every morning without a plan in mind or an option that makes you want to participate. It's important that you find a fitness routine you're happy with so you're more likely to maintain the practice.
Choose an Activity You Actually Like
Don't set lifting weights as your fitness plan if you hate doing that. Don't watch workout videos following along with someone you can't stand watching. You need an activity you actually like so you can relish the workout time instead of resenting it. Plan to dance, take a walk outside, go for a hike, enjoy a bike ride, or any other activity you love.
Ask a Friend to Join
Maybe it's the idea of doing it all alone that you don't like. When it comes to exercise, there are so many ways to make it right for you. That may include asking a friend to join so the two of you can work out together. Knowing someone else is there to have your back can make exercise more worthwhile. Never hesitate to ask a friend to join a fitness class with you, go for a walk, or take a hike.
Set Rewards
Working out may be easier to accomplish if you know there's a reward coming. Set rewards for yourself so you can really strive to complete your exercise goals. You may be happier working out if you know you'll get that new pair of shoes once you've completed so many days of exercise. You could even put money in a jar -- say 50 cents or one dollar -- every time you complete a fitness task. Splurge on something for yourself once it's full.
Exercise to Enjoyable Music
Music is great for working out. That's why so many people take their headphones along on their jogs and turn up the tunes when they're cleaning indoors. Exercising to enjoyable music that's upbeat and puts you in a good mood can help you enjoy the workout better.
You should be happy with your fitness routine. Don't make a plan that you know you won't follow through with, and don't choose options you know you despise. It's best to find exercises that make you feel joyful that you actually want to do. Your workouts will work better for your mind and body if you like them.
