7 Ways to Instantly Cure a Bad Mood
Bad days are inevitable. Some weeks, there is something bad bound to happen, such as a broken computer or snide remark from a colleague. While many of the things that put us in a bad mood are minor issues, it can still be hard to shake off our bad mood. Your foul mood is not doing anything to benefit your health or happiness though, so try one of these quick ways to get rid of it.
Fake It Until You Make It
You don’t feel like smiling, but just do it. Put on a fake smile and tell yourself that you are happy. Before you know it, your fake smile will be replaced by a real one.
Sniff It
Some scents can boost your mood quickly. Lavender essential oils give a relaxing feeling, while bright scents like orange and lemon instantly improve your attitude.
Go Pick Some Flowers
Crazy but true – science has found that flowers can put us in a better mood and also increase our productivity. Pick some flowers from outside or buy yourself a bouquet – you deserve it.
Write Down Your Blessings
It can be hard to remember how truly blessed you are in tight situations. While you may be hurting financially, it is wise to write down your actual blessings. Did you get a meal today? Do you have somewhere to live? Do you have clean water? Do you have a close friend? Don’t take your little blessings for granted since many countries go without meals, homes, and clean water daily.
Snuggle Up
Throw on something comfy and snuggle up with someone. Whether that someone be a significant other or a cat or dog, you will reap the benefits of releasing oxytocin, the happy hormone.
Random Acts of Kindness
You may feel miserable, but if you turn that energy into doing something nice for someone, you will bless them and yourself. Pay for someone’s coffee at the coffee shop or give a friend flowers. The simplest act will put a smile on their face and yours.
Declutter
A quick decluttering session can make us feel more calm and organized. Give yourself ten minutes to declutter your desk, bag, or drawer at home. When you are done, step back and admire your work. Now why were you in a bad mood again?
Bad moods last as long as you let them last. Try one of these quick fix solutions so that you don’t ruin relationships with your bad mood.
