Meet The Doctors

Dr. Jake DeVries, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Buckeye

Dr. DeVries was born and raised in Cortland, Nebraska, a small town in southeastern region of the state. He graduated with a B.S. in Nutrition Exercise and Health Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2016 (Go Huskers!). By 2020, he earned his Doctorate in Chiropractic from Cleveland University-KC, graduating with Cum Laude honors. Since graduating, he’s recently moved to Arizona to join The Joint team, and is excited to have the opportunity to provide the best care he can for patients!

He realized he wanted to be a Chiropractor while he was working for a local Chiropractic office as an undergraduate. As he learned more about the profession, he became intrigued by the holistic approach and the variety of ways to improve a patient’s health. His favorite thing about being in the Chiropractic field is learning about each patient’s story and being able to enable them to change the context of it for the better.

He enjoys being outdoors (running/hiking/biking), watching and playing basketball, football, golf and a variety of other sports, reading, and exploring new areas!

Eggs, spinach, and apples are all must-haves in his fridge; all are staples to his diet and are quick and easy to prepare and are very nutrient dense foods.

Four people he would want at his dinner party would be Michael Jordan, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tupac Shakur, and Dalai Lama.

The coolest thing he’s done was go on a 10 day long chiropractic mission trip to Peru in 2018 where they were able to visit Machu Picchu, and provide care to the local residents. It was an amazing and humbling experience to learn more about the cultural differences, and be able to help people who didn’t have the same luxury of health care most do.

Dr. Scott Carpenter, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Buckeye

Scott Carpenter, D. C. graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic, Davenport Iowa in 1999. After opening a practice for a few years in Iowa he started working at Palmer college as a Faculty Clinician at the Davenport campus in 2003, After 16 years helping mold the Doctors of tomorrow he and his wife Deborah decided to make the move to Buckeye, Az area. He has over 20 years experience. He is interested in sports and enjoys helping others feel their best so they can accomplish the most out of life. He has presented research at ACC/RAC research conferences in Las Vegas and Baltimore MD. Bowling and golf are some of his favorite pastimes. He is an US Air Force veteran.

Dr. Hannah Hershey, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Buckeye

Dr. Hershey was born and raised in Maryland where she attended University of Maryland and graduated with her bachelors degree in kinesiology. Shortly after, Dr. Hershey then moved to Iowa to attend Palmer college of Chiropractic. Dr. Hershey moved to the Phoenix area immediately after graduation.

Dr. Hershey looks forward to helping you and your loved ones achieve full expression of your nervous system through chiropractic. She hopes to share with her patients a belief that your body is innately powerful.

Dr. Hershey enjoys yoga, spending time with family, trying new things, and supporting local businesses in her free time.

Dr. Kevin Meyer, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Buckeye

Dr. Kevin Meyer graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with an emphasis in cellular and molecular biology. He graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in San Jose, CA in June of 2009. He moved to Colorado where he practiced for 11 years. Most recently, he has joined The Joint Chiropractic team in the West Valley of Phoenix.

Dr. Meyer has treated patients of all ages and abilities, from weekend warriors to professional athletes. He has been a chiropractic patient since he was a kid and knows the overall health benefits of chiropractic care.

Dr. Maralina Serio, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Buckeye

My name is Dr. Maralina Serio, and I am an associate chiropractor who is new to Arizona. I was raised in several of the Chicago suburbs, and after deciding I wanted to explore for my undergraduate degree, I landed in Indianola, IA where I attended Simpson College and graduated in 2015. I apparently loved Iowa enough to stay for more school, and cut my travel to visit family in half, when I attended the main campus of Palmer College of Chiropractic Davenport! In October of 2019 I graduated from PCC and got a license for Arizona and Illinois but stayed in the Quad Cities where I worked in Moline for some time. In June of 2022 I joined The Joint to help serve the Phoenix area while soaking up more sun than the Midwest has to offer. Being a chiropractor is a fulfilling career that allows me to meet new people and help them live their life with comfort and pleasure. Having been an athlete while I was younger, and in college, Chiropractic also keeps me active and allows me to help be a part of an overall health team. When I am not in the office, I enjoy taking walks and playing with my dogs Optimus Prime and Malcolm. Other hobbies I enjoy include seeing movies with my significant other, trying new food places, crocheting rectangles, and reading books to settle down for the evening or learn something new!
