3 Reasons You May Have Back Pain
By Virginia Laird
While you may have suffered with back pain for quite some time, don’t think it is normal. Back pain may have many causes, some which are more difficult to heal than others. However, before you get stressed out thinking you have something serious going on, take a look at your closet. Your love of all things fashionable can be the culprit to some (if not all) of your back pain. A few things which can cause back pain include:
- Your love of high heels
- Carrying a heavy purse
- Wearing clothes which are too tight
Your Love of High Heels
While you may love to wear a beautiful pair of heels, these can be a major reason you experience back pain. Chiropractors suggest that heels can cause back pain because they alter the natural stride and offer little support for the back. If you are like me, you may not be willing to abandon your high heel-wearing habit altogether. No problem, chiropractors recommend keeping heels at or below two inches to better protect your back.
Carrying a Heavy Purse
Purses can be another cause of back pain. If you prefer a larger purse, it is best to keep the load light by emptying the bag daily. Chiropractors suggest if the purse or bag is overly heavy, it can cause the spine to shift and restrict function. Many chiropractors recommend carrying smaller bags to prevent this issue. However, if you aren’t ready to give up your big bag, it is suggested to try a bag with a strap to allow you to carry it across the body. This can help distribute the weight evenly.
Wearing Clothes Which are Too Tight
You may not have ever considered it, but the clothing you choose to wear can cause back pain. If your clothing is too tight it can restrict natural movement of the body, which ultimately may put stress on the spine. Chiropractors suggest those who love the tight clothing style try to learn to love a slightly looser fit. Another tip offered, for those who love their tight clothing, is to wear these clothes limitedly.
