Indoor Exercise Ideas to Get You Moving!

By Sara Butler

It can be difficult to come up with ideas to get your body moving when you have to stay inside. Just because the weather isn't cooperating doesn't mean you have to skip your workout. There are some easy ways to keep up with your exercise schedule and get your cardio workout in without stepping foot outside.

Go to the Gym

A gym or a recreation center is probably one of the easiest ways to get your workout in when the weather isn't working out for your workout. Investing in membership if it fits into your budget is a great way to capitalize on your health and wellness. These places tend to have pools and a variety of equipment you can use to help make exercise a priority in your life.

Work Out at Home

You may not be able to train for a half-marathon in your living room, but you can get your cardio exercise in easily. If you have a computer or even a smartphone, you can watch YouTube workout videos for exercise. If you have a gaming console, there are games you can buy that take you through a workout as you're playing a game. Of course, workout DVDs might be tucked away in your cabinet somewhere too. Break those puppies out and get your workout in. If you're really in a pinch, then you can clean your house -- effectively killing two birds with one stone as you get a clean house and exercise for the day.

Walk at the Mall

If you have a mall nearby you can power walk at your local mall. Sure, you may think this is only for little old ladies, but those little old ladies you see walking the mall have figured out that this large indoor area is perfect for getting your exercise in when the weather outside isn't the greatest.

Join a League

Enjoy bowling? How about basketball? Maybe even indoor volleyball? There are usually indoor recreational leagues for just about anything you can think of, so join one! You can meet new people, have fun, and be active all at once. It's a great opportunity to try a new sport or play one you've enjoyed in the past.

Getting more movement in your day even when you have to stay inside isn't as difficult as you may think! Put some of these ideas in motion to help your body get in motion too.
