Chiropractic Advice for Heart Health

By Brandi Goodman

American Heart Month arrives each year in February, and for good reason. The month helps people everywhere become more aware of the ways in which the heart can suffer. Poor diet, high stress levels, minimal exercise, and more can all take a toll on cardiovascular health. With some chiropractic advice, you can work toward improving your heart health this month and every month thereafter.

Reduce Stress

Blood pressure tends to rise when people feel stressed, overwhelmed, or otherwise upset. This is why it is so important that you work to reduce your stress any way possible. Write in a journal. Go for a walk. Spend time laughing with a friend. The goal is to keep your blood pressure at an even level so your heart does not suffer stress itself.

Get More Exercise

Exercise works to strengthen the heart and rest of the body. Get more of it if you hope to improve your heart health and health overall. A heart that is strong can get back to a resting rate much more easily after a workout than one that is weak. The more exercise you get, the more you can continue to handle.

Eat Heart Healthy Foods

Certain foods are better for the heart than others. Whole grains with fiber are especially important. It helps to lower blood pressure and keep cholesterol levels in check. Fruits, such as apples and blueberries, that offer antioxidants are also beneficial. They reduce inflammation and fight off disease.

Receive Regular Chiropractic Care

You may not realize it, but chiropractic care can be beneficial for your cardiovascular system. People experiencing chest pain may not have an issue with blood circulation to the heart or restricted arteries. Instead, they may have a restrictions, often called misalignments, that need to be adjusted. The spinal nerves can have an impact on the heart, lungs, ribs, and chest muscles. These nerves experience interference and cannot function correctly, thus making other areas of the body fail to function correctly, if a restriction is present.

Cervical angina is the term for this occurrence. You may experience chest pain that is believed to be cardiac angina even though it truly comes from the spine. Chiropractic care will help correct the problem and reduce the pain.

Visit The Joint Chiropractic to see if your spine needs to be aligned. You may also receive additional guidance on keeping your heart and the rest of your body healthy and well. Take all advice into consideration when trying to implement healthy lifestyle changes for better heart health and wellness overall.
