Find the Healthiest Choices in Liquid Fuel

 Have you discovered the many virtues of liquid fuel, morning noon and night? Liquid fuel comes in tons of healthy drinks that can be fast, quick and vitamin and energy loaded. They are also easily absorbed to get those good nutrients working quickly.

At breakfast, Fresh cranberry/pomegranate juice can add a solid vitamin punch to the rest of your breakfast. (Cranberry is endorsed for fighting urinary infections and pomegranate is believed to fight heart disease.) Hot coffee or tea can chime in too, waking you up and getting you primed for the day.

Or, if you are a smoothie person you may whip fresh fruits and vegetables into sweet or tangy blends to get you out the door fast with no guilt.

You just got vitamins A,K,B, C and E if you threw a little spinach into that green mix of vegetables and fruits. Sweet juices like apple will tame stronger flavors like cucumber. Use 60 percent fruit, 40 percent veggies and add whole fruit to maximize fiber.

Recently, Simple Green offered a powerhouse pomegranate/ citrus punch recipe that begs to be tried. It calls for pomegranate seeds but I used a cup of pomegranate juice instead, plus two cups fresh spinach, one cup water and a banana. Blend the spinach with orange and pomegranate juices and water; then add the banana. You can also use fresh oranges instead of juice.

Come lunch you may be cutting it short to meet a deadline, but a tall glass of pineapple juice or icy black tea will keep the energy and ideas flowing, along with string cheese, and apple and a cup of chicken broth.

Home at last, lemon or lime water will hydrate you while you whip up dinner. Or vegetable loaded tomato juice spiked with hot pepper sauce and topped off with celery and olives will fit too. During dinner, a glass of red or white wine or a frosty beer may be welcome. Then later after dinner, a cup of hot tea, or hot cocoa will help you mellow out through the evening.

If you love midnight snacking, one possible way to drift back to sleep is a soothing cup of milk. Another friend of mine says whenever he packs on a few pounds, he also starts turning to glasses of low fat, cold milk during the day and heated ones at night to take the place of calorie loaded temptations. Whatever your drink choices, just make sure they are long on fresh ingredients and short on additives.
