Chiropractic Advice to Help You Walk Tall

By Brandi Goodman

Walking sounds like an easy task. You learn how to as a young child, after all. Yet, so many people walk with poor posture and slumped shoulders. Many walk slowly, and without much effort. This may get you where you need to go, but it won't do much for you in terms of building your lower body strength and helping you get stronger. You can walk tall and proud -- with a mission in mind -- when you take some chiropractic advice.

See a Chiropractor

Before you start a new walking routine, stop in to see a chiropractor. An adjustment can help you with flexibility and ensure you have your full range of motion for the best walk possible. A joint restriction in place can hinder your performance. It should get corrected before you begin.

Alternate Your Terrain

If you're always walking on the same type of surface, it won't bring you any challenges. You should go for a walk regularly, but alternate the type of terrain you're on. Pick a soft track one day and walk along the concrete the next. You should also find spots with hills and dips that force you to use more energy and burn more calories in the process.

Drink Water on the Way

Always bring a water bottle with you when you walk. Your joints can ache quickly if they aren't properly lubricated. Be sure to have a glass before you head out on your walk, and once you return home. In the meantime, you should be sipping on the bottle you bring whenever you need it. It will make it easier to recover as well.

Get Better Walking Shoes

The shoes you wear can make your walking experience better or worse. Pick an old pair with no support and you're bound to experience sore legs quickly into your journey. Get a newer pair with plenty of cushion that helps absorb the shock of the street, and you're more likely to enjoy a longer and more worthwhile walk.

The goal is to shoot for 10,000 steps every day. This helps you achieve a weight loss goal of one pound per week. Keep this chiropractic advice in mind and you can walk tall and proud everywhere you go. It's great for your well-being and can help improve your lower body strength tremendously.
