Why Blueberries are Being Labeled the Ultimate Superfood

Berries can completely change the course of your life. Specifically, blueberries have been linked to some of the most important body processes. You have probably heard about blueberries being used as “brain food,” providing us with some of the most powerful nutrients that can be found in any snack. This is actually no exaggeration; blueberries have the ability to make drastic improvements in the health of our bodies and in the health of our minds.

We can first look at the actual nutrients contained in blueberries. We can find so much value in just one cup of blueberries, which can be integrated into our diets with ease. There are just  84 calories in an entire cup, but the energy we get from blueberries is much more substantial than the calorie count communicates. There are also 1.1 grams of protein, which is quite a lot for just berries. Finally, there are 3.6 grams of dietary fiber per cup, which equates to 14% of the recommended daily value.

The minerals found in blueberries are quite essential as well. The list of vitamins and minerals found in blueberries is as follows: potassium, magnesium, iron, copper, phosphorus, calcium, zinc, manganese, vitamin A, vitamin E. This list is quite extensive, and there are actually small amounts of many other necessary vitamins and minerals in the blueberries.

The antioxidants in blueberries are yet another reason to love these tart tiny fruits. There are many phytonutrients and antioxidant and phenolic compounds that are connected with a reduction in the risk of all types of cancer. Vitamin A and vitamin C are also important in reducing the risk of cancer, and they work together with the antioxidants in blueberries along with the antioxidants already present in our bodies.

Along with the improvements in attention and memory, blueberries have helped numerous members of the population with protecting their brains against degenerative diseases. These diseases include Parkinson’s Disease, Alzheimer’s Disease, and many others. Blueberries power the brain and keep it functioning optimally.

Weight loss, heart health, circulatory function, skin health, and many other parts of our overall health are also able to benefit from blueberries. With the right use, blueberries can add years to your life and keep you on your game throughout your entire life.
