Dr. Michael J. Funicello was born in Nyack, NY and raised in Mesa, AZ where he attended the University of Arizona in 1993 with a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology. While at the UofA, Dr. Funicello had an epiphany while studying molecular biology. He found that, “what I would be doing would keep me stuck in a lab all day. I loved studying the body and was good with my hands and a family member took me with them to the chiropractor one day and I had my first adjustment. Felt ‘something’ better about my body. That was my big light bulb moment.” Dr. Funicello then found himself in San Jose, CA, to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic West and where he obtained his Doctor of Chiropractic degree, graduating with salutatorian honors in 1997. Dr. Funicello has since moved back home to sunny Arizona where he was in private practice for over 15 years before joining The Joint Chiropractic in Tempe, AZ.
Dr. Funicello’s passion is helping others achieve their health goals by maximizing the connection between the brain and body through a well-adjusted spine, and become more alive through care. He has consistently demonstrated how regular chiropractic adjustments not only help to prevent pain and injury but also serve to promote optimal health and wellness.
Throughout his professional career, Dr. Funicello has learned to serve all types of people from pregnant women and babies, to grandparents or those suffering from various pains such as sciatica pain, neck pain, lower back pain, and even migraines.
When he’s not working at The Joint Chiropractic, Dr. Funicello is either woodworking, camping, landscaping or spending time with his wife, Maria, and son, Myles at their home in Mesa, AZ.
Dr. Funicello’s personal motto is “Do what you love and you’ll never have to work a day in your life!”
Dr Samuel Rodriguez was born and raised in Mesa, Arizona. Growing up he always had a curiosity of the human body and how it works especially in Sports. When he was in Jr High he witnessed firsthand his Mom going thru numerous surgeries to correct her neck and back pain along with many years of Physical Therapy. It was then he decided to contribute by pursuing a career in Healthcare. He went on to doing his undergraduate in the Exercise and Wellness program at Arizona State University with Magna Cum Laude Honors and graduated in 2007. He did his internship from ASU at a Physical Therapy Clinic in Banner Desert Medical as a Physical Therapy technician. During this time he was exposed to many different types of rehabilitation and decided to try alternative healthcare in Chiropractic for a neck injury. He had remarkable results thru consistent Chiropractic treatments with the adjustment being the focal point. Once he saw and felt the power of the adjustment, he enrolled in Palmer West Chiropractic College in 2011. During his education he worked in the Cadaver lab as a dissector and tutor while participating in numerous school clubs including Sports Council, Neurology, and Motion palpation. Dr Rodriguez graduated from Palmer Chiropractic College in September of 2014.
Coolest thing he ever did was after graduation lived in Peru for a year. He got to explore all over the country from its desert coasts, mountains of the Andes and the Jungles of the Amazon. While living in different regions he surfed, ate unknown foods and learned about the vast ancient history of Peru.
After moving back to the United States, Dr Rodriguez wanted to further his education and decided to get certified as a Chiropractic Sports Physician which requires additional education and testing that is taught by former and current Olympic Medical Professionals. Furthermore, he is certified in Myofascial Decompression, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilizers, and Rocktape. Dr Rodriguez has practiced in Phoenix at Personal Injury/ Workman’s Comp Clinics, The Joint Chiropractic in Chandler and is now serving his community at the Joint in Queen Creek.

Since his journey started in the chiropractic field he has learned to deal with many different types of dysfunction as in sciatic, low back, neck, mid back or extremity pain. He knows that you have to tailor the treatment to the patient, whether that is the young or old or any where in-between. He has also been a patient of chiropractic care his whole life because he understands how important spine and nervous system health is to living a long and pain free life.
When Dr. Homer is not in the office helping people, he likes to go to sporting events, road trips, golf, spending time with his family and spending time outside when the weather allows it.
