Is Chiropractic Care Your Secret Weapon?
By Donna Kostiew
Everybody likes a good game. There is just something about a healthy level of competition and a string of exciting plays that pull us in to watch our favorite players, week after week, month after month. And no matter what the sport, there always seems to be that one player who simply stands out above the rest.
So what is it about those standout players? We know that most athletes can be found training for hours every day and that they eat the right kinds of foods, so it can’t just be that which propels them to extraordinary success. And it is doubtful that the secret, little rituals many have before a game is what does it either (sorry to break the bad news, but rubbing that fake purple, gas station rabbit's foot does not make anyone a better player). So that brings us back to the question … what could it be?
The Secret Weapon That Many Successful Athletes Use
Many athletes who want to perform at the highest level possible, who want to prevent injuries from occurring, and who want to keep their bodies in optimal shape, have one thing in common … they often see a chiropractor on a regular basis. Why? Because chiropractic:
- Treats restrictions in the spine, making it easier to twist, bend and perform
- Increases flexibility and range of motions
- Helps to decrease pain and discomfort
- Reduces the chance of injury and, if already injured, shortens the healing time
- Improves posture
Seeing a chiropractor on a regular basis has helped many pro athletes maintain a certain level of play. Pro athletes are often so in tune with their bodies that it is easy for them to notice when a joint restriction is undermining their ability to perform, but for us “recreational” athletes (the weekend golfers, the co-ed softball players) it can be difficult to notice the same.
Should Chiropractic be Your Secret Weapon Too?
It can be frustrating to know when you are not reaching your full potential, and even worse, you may not even know that there are limitations in your game. How many friendly wagers and bets do you have to lose before realizing that something isn’t right? So if things just aren’t adding up, if you feel your game should be more effective than it is, if you find yourself on the losing end more often than you’d like, then it might be time to follow what the pros do and visit your local chiropractor.
Regular adjustments from your chiropractor will help to keep your muscles in balance and your spine in alignment. It’s exactly what the pros do to take their game to the next level, and it’s exactly what you should do as well. After all, wouldn’t it be nice to surprise your friends and, at the same time, recoup some of that money you lost?
