Staying Well This Flu Season Can Be as Easy as This

Flu season comes the same time each year, although there are some years when it seems to last longer than others. If you are one who makes it through the season without falling ill, consider yourself one of the lucky few. Health and wellness experts admit that there is very little anyone can do to completely avoid the flu virus. Many advise that good hygiene and healthy habits are best when trying to keep the flu at bay. A few things you should consider making part of your life to help prevent the flu include:

  • Wipe down shopping baskets
  • Wash your face morning and night
  • Go to bed when you are exhausted

Wipe Down Shopping Baskets

Health and wellness experts suggest that you should never be in too big of a hurry to wipe down your shopping cart while at the supermarket. Most even provide antibacterial wipes to make this simple task convenient. It is suggested that wiping off your cart can reduce your exposure to germs. The next time you head to any store where you will be using a shopping cart, take the time to wipe it down.

Wash Your Face Morning and Night

Research suggests that washing your face is a great way to help prevent you from falling ill. Germs enter the body through openings such as the mouth and nose. Keeping your face clean can help prevent germs from entering these areas. Likewise, experts suggest that you attempt to keep your hands away from your face. This can help reduce the spread of germs too. Start washing your face both morning and night as a preventative measure right away.

Go to Bed When You are Exhausted

Sleep has long been proven to be a great asset in preventing illness. When we sleep, the body works to regain energy, fights off infection, and much more. Without enough sleep, many systems of the body will fail to function properly, including the immune system. It is recommended that the average adult get at least six hours of sleep each night. There are some who require much more sleep than this. Health and wellness experts suggest that giving yourself a bedtime can be beneficial when trying to ensure you are getting plenty of sleep.
