Local Fundraiser Looks to Help Students in Need
Although it’s July, one school district is looking to raise money for students in need for the upcoming school year. Kyrene School district is looking to raise money for the many students who will be in need of funds for the school year.
They have a yearly drive called “Stuff The Bus” that is going on its 14th year. Stuff The Bus is a drive that collects backpacks and school supplies for over 25 elementary and middle schools in the district.
How many kids on average are in need of extra things for the school year?
One out of every three kids in the school district are living below the poverty line. Which means they may have a hard time finding ways to pay for the necessities for the school year.
Who is helping the Kyrene school district with the donations?
With the Kyrene foundation, the East Valley Women’s League and local Walgreens stores are teaming up to help out the students of the district.
Where are donations being accepted?
If you are interested in making a donation, you can drop them off at the Kyrene School District Office located at 8700 S. Kyrene Road in Tempe.
What type of donations are being accepted?
Any kind of school supplies are appreciated, these include: backpacks, binders, paper, pencils, folders, glue sticks, crayons, scissors and notebooks.
What else is needed from the community?
Other than donations, volunteers are needed in helping pack up the donations to give to the kids. The packing will be happening on July 24th at Kyrene de los Niño’s, 1330 E. Dava Drive, Tempe.
Everyone is encouraged to volunteer, and this even includes students from Kyrene Elementary as long as they are accompanied by a parent or guardian.
