Take Better Care of Health With a Nap
By Tom Herrin
It doesn't require a degree in anything for people to be in tune with the needs of their body. Too often they fail to recognize the simple things that may make a big difference. Feel can play a part in assessing health in general. One of the most frequent issues is a lack of sleep. As people try to push themselves, sometimes to the limit, they end up skipping valuable sleep. This often comes back to haunt them in the form of health issues, whether mental, physical, or emotional. It is fortunate that in many cases, there may be an easy fix. A nap can do plenty in the way of adding that needed sleep.
It May Improve Physical Performance
Good sleep can help people boost their physical abilities. In a Stanford University study, it was found that when athletes got more sleep over a three-week period, they saw some real improvements. They had better sprint times, better endurance, and a better heart rate. It was also found that many athletes fell well short on sleep, but could effectively make it up and raise their performance again. A nap could possibly be a simple fix for that.
It May Help to Deter Dementia
There seems to be an increased awareness of Alzheimer's disease these days. It is believed that insufficient sleep can contribute to this. According to a study from Johns Hopkins University, people who did not get enough sleep had higher levels of B-amyloid in their brains. This is a plaque that is associated with Alzheimer's. The good side is that while people sleep their brains have some way of cleaning themselves. This is another case in which a nap may do some real good.
It May Help the Skin
A lot of us are highly concerned about the condition of their skin. The age-old idea of someone getting our beauty rest has a lot of soundness. It is easy to notice that when we are short on sleep and tired, it is quite noticeable. Those lines become obvious. It is also pretty easy to notice the difference when we get enough sleep. Our skin will usually appear younger and not as loose. A good nap can be just what it may require for us to look healthier to others. Planning them can be a great part of a good health maintenance plan.
