3 Ways to Find Fitness Motivation
By Genevieve Cunningham
Motivation. What a powerful word. When we have motivation, the sky's the limit. We can work harder, make more money, get involved in more things, and reach goals that we’ve set for ourselves. But when we lack motivation, all of these things become infinitely more difficult. And this is especially true when it comes to fitness. Finding and keeping fitness motivation can be difficult, but luckily, it’s not at all impossible. If you need a little help finding the motivation to get fit, take a look at these tips to try today.
Find a Personal Goal
For some people, a very personal goal is the best way to go. Reunion coming up? Really want to fit into those jeans? Looking to hit a certain number on the scale? These are goals that are only important to you, but sometimes that’s enough. If you’re intrinsically motivated, then find a goal that has power in your mind. Set it, say it aloud, and work like a beast to meet that personal fitness goal.
Join a Group
For other people, outside influence is best. If you’re better motivated by something external, consider joining a fitness group of some sort. Get with a group of friends, join a class, or join a challenge group. This provides you with support and accountability, which is exactly what some people need to keep going. If this is you, check out your local gym or even the internet for some ideas.
Follow a Fitness Role Model
This is a great route for those who need a little bit of internal and external motivation. Search the internet for a fitness guru that speaks to you. A fit mom, a fit college student, a fit middle-aged person. There is someone for everyone. Choose a person that makes you want to get fit, someone who has already done it, and someone who can offer advice that is applicable to your life. Then follow this person along with a good diet and exercise plan to get you moving in the right direction.
Finding motivation is one of the hardest parts about getting fit. But if you can ever find the motivating piece that works for you, you’ll probably find your health changing faster than you can imagine! Use these tips to help you get the motivation that inspires your journey, and start down the path to a fit and healthy body as soon as today.
