How Your Nights Affect Your Days
By Donna Stark
Do you wake up in a panic after hitting the snooze button one too many times? Is your morning routine full of more chaos than calm? And do you wish your energy levels were higher so that you could feel more productive during the day? Well, you aren't alone! Unfortunately, many people experience mornings and days just like that, but the good news is that you no longer have to! With some simple adjustments to your nighttime routine (yes, that's where all of this starts), you will be able to set yourself up for success the following day!
Healthy Habits at Night
If you are looking to wake up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and excited about what you will be able to accomplish in the day ahead, you may want to stop and check where you are falling short the night before. You see, your nighttime routine can significantly impact how you feel the next morning and throughout that day, so it's a good thing to go over. And if you are unsure of where to start, here are some suggestions to get you on your way!
- Turn off your devices - You immediately charge the battery on your cell phone when it drops below a certain point, so why don't you do the same for your body? Turn off those smart devices at least 30 minutes to one hour before you go to bed so that your body can recharge itself without any distraction.
- Stretch it out - Before you hit the sack each night, take some time to give your tired and sore muscles a little extra love! In addition to helping your body relax, getting rid of that physical tension in your body by stretching helps your mind unwind as well!
- Prepare for the morning - Remember that panic that set in when you woke up late? Start your day off on the right foot by setting out the clothes you are going to wear, packing your lunch, and preparing your briefcase the night before. It's a great way to prepare for the day ahead and avoid that crazy, rushed time in the morning!
- Stick to your bedtime - Sleep is one of those nonnegotiables in your life. It's the time when your body truly has the chance to restore and recharge, so getting a full night of rest should be high on your priority list. Make sure you are sticking to a consistent nighttime routine and that you are going to bed and waking up at the same time every day.
Productive Days
Being productive, accomplishing goals, and finding success during your day has a lot to do with your behaviors and habits at night. So if you feel like your days could use a change in direction, check how your nighttime routine could be affecting them. With just a few simple adjustments, you could start having better days!
