Want to Lose Weight? Give This a Try

By Virginia Laird

Have you looked in the mirror lately only to be overcome with the desire to lose weight? You are never alone when experiencing these feelings. Each day, millions across the nation share this same emotion. Health and wellness experts suggest that weight loss can be easier to accomplish than many would think. Sticking to whatever weight loss plan you've decided to follow can prove to be the most difficult part of the journey. A few tips suggested by these experts to help you achieve the desired results include:

  • Drink more water
  • Reduce your consumption of soda
  • Eat well-balanced meals
  • Reduce your sugar consumption

Drink More Water

Water is a necessary nutritional component which is vital to maintain proper body function and hydration. Dehydration can cause serious health issues, including hospitalization and even death. Water also works as a filler which can help reduce the amount of food consumed. Research suggests everyone should drink at least half of their body weight in ounces each day. If you struggle to meet this goal, it is best to begin adding water to your daily routine slowly.

Reduce Your Consumption of Soda

Research suggests those who are serious about losing weight should reduce (or even quit) the consumption of soda. This beverage offers no nutritional value and is filled with harmful additives which have proven to be detrimental to the health. Although soda can be tasty, it is best to learn to live life without this drink.

Eat Well-Balanced Meals

Making sure you are choosing well-balanced meals is another secret to weight loss. Far too many choose to load up on sweets, breads, and a host of other carb-filled treasures. Instead, it is best to consume these in moderation, opting instead for veggies, especially green ones, and lean proteins.

Reduce Your Sugar Consumption

Like many, I enjoy chocolate and cannot imagine what life would be like giving it up. However, I will concede that sugar can be harmful for the body. Sugar causes weight gain, issues with diabetes, and a variety of other health-related issues. Health and wellness experts advise it to be best to limit sugar consumption to one treat per week.

Bottom line: Weight loss boils down to managing what you choose to consume. You must be willing to make some sacrifices to see results. Decide what your first step will be and get started right away. Good luck!
