Go Ahead and Get That Fitness Trainer!

By Donna Stark

I like people. I really do. But there is no denying the fact that some things are just better when done alone. I'm thinking of things like shopping for a bathing suit, organizing the disaster you call a closet, or binge-watching all eight seasons of the show you have been meaning to get to. Some people even think it's better to work out alone. I used to feel the same way too ... until I hit that dreaded plateau and started to dislike my workouts. It was then that I knew I had to actually include somebody in my pursuit of fitness because I couldn't do it alone anymore.

Why You May Need a Personal Trainer

Has your fitness routine hit a brick wall? Are you finding it difficult to achieve your health and fitness goals? Are you tired of the gym? You don't need to be a famous athlete or a rich celebrity to enjoy the benefits that a personal trainer can bring you. In fact, the gym you go to right now probably has plenty on staff! Take a look at all of the advantages that working with a personal trainer can bring you.

  • You will try new things - The gym is the perfect place for a cardio workout on the treadmill, but if that's the only machine you use, and you don't try anything else while there, you most certainly are missing out on a lot! Your trainer will show you how to use and incorporate the other equipment so that you will become more comfortable and your workouts will become more challenging.
  • You will learn what is realistic - Have you gotten to the point of unbelievable frustration because you aren't reaching your goals yet? Were your goals realistic in the first place? A personal trainer will help you set reasonable and attainable goals with a timeline for success that makes sense.
  • You will find that you can do more than you thought - Are you still jogging at the same speed and incline that you started with all of those months ago? Have you even tried to lift heavier weights? It's not uncommon to stay in one spot when you don't have anyone looking over your shoulder, but that spot isn't always the best when it comes to improving and getting better. A personal trainer can help you with that.
  • You will become more accountable - Were you too tired last night to hit the gym and was the sun shining too brightly this morning for the drive over? It's easy to come up with excuses when you are on your own, but if you have appointments scheduled with a trainer, those excuses start to become a thing of the past.

Find Your Trainer

The good news is that more than likely, your gym already has a bunch of awesome trainers waiting to meet you. So head on over to the front desk and see about getting you one. You certainly won't regret it!
