3 Tips for More Manageable Days
By Donna Stark
Between careers, parental responsibilities, housework, and circumstances out of our control, it is easy to see why so many people are more burned out than ever. There's no denying that the past year has been difficult, but that doesn't mean the towel needs to be thrown in just yet. If you are experiencing exhaustion, poor productivity, mood swings, and an overall negative attitude toward everything in your life, or just feel like your world is starting to explode, keep reading. The following suggestions may be exactly what is needed to get things back on the right path to good health, happiness, and better days ahead.
Learn to Compromise
If your toddler throws a tantrum every time you are out running errands or if your day is racked with guilt and feelings of unworthiness when you have to cut your workout time short, perhaps learning the art of compromising may be able to help. Even if it is not snack time yet, toss some treats (healthy ones, of course) into your purse before you head out with your little one and don't worry about the shortened workout, especially if that extra time is needed to get through your day. By accepting compromises in a healthier way and resetting your expectations, you may be able to improve your mental and physical well-being.
Schedule Time for Self-Care
You know the saying. You have to take care of yourself first if you want to care for others, so don't forget to schedule that into your calendar. Make it a goal to engage in something you enjoy doing or something that will bring relaxation into your life every day. You don't need a lot of time for this either. Just 30 minutes a day to exercise, read, or catch up with a friend is enough to keep you going! Of course, and if time permits, take as long as you want too! This is all about doing something for yourself, and only yourself!
Ask for What You Need
Are you the type who hates to burden others by asking for what you need? Well, it may be time to figure out a different strategy, especially if it will help you manage your days better! More than likely, your friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers will be happy to help! After all, the people you chose to let into your circle are there for a reason, right? So, they are the ones who you should turn to when things start falling apart. And who knows? A helping hand here and there may be all that is needed to turn things around.
Start Taking Proactive Steps Today
Don't let the circumstances of today dictate what your life will be like tomorrow. By taking the necessary steps to improve your overall well-being, you can look forward to better days ahead! Good luck!
